It'd be so cool if you could split yourself into three, huh?

Before all else: FIC PIMPS!

Fanfics for [livejournal.com profile] kye_kestrel, in celebration of her birthday!
+ SUPERNATURAL MEETS [livejournal.com profile] soul_campaign. Feel the freedom like no tomorrow.
+ HUNTER X HUNTER MEETS [livejournal.com profile] soul_campaign. When burning bridges won't come down.
+ KATEKYO HITMAN REBORN! In the custody of trolls.

Other fics:
+ OOKIKU FURIKABUTTE. No dust upon the furniture of love (Christmas gift for [livejournal.com profile] istrill!)
+ METAL GEAR SOLID 4. Burn the length and breadth of the sky (iWHORE request from [livejournal.com profile] gaijin_ikei!)

sob, I'm going to have to prepare to write a crapload very, VERY soon.

LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT MY CRAZY WEEKEND, FLIST. ...Although the crazy didn't actually start over the weekend itself, but last Wednesday.

Little brother's organization was scheduled to sing Christmas carols at our house on Friday night. Everything was pretty much set - both my parents and my grandparents were going to stay in to watch, and my mom was even going to bring in Anika, my niece, to be cute and listen to the performance. They received word, though, that the mother of one of our family company's most loyal co-workers passed away in Baguio, and that meant that both of them had to go right over and be with her for a bit. That meant that the kids HAD no audience, especially since they planned on bringing our grandmother with them and my older brother Paolo was likely going to choose his latest computer game over watching the kids sing now that my parents weren't going to be around to keep him in place.

That is where I came in, because mom promptly left me in charge of finding them a new audience. Which I did, by posting a shoutout to Plurk (thanks to everyone who replied or tried to make a way to make it, btw!) and poking my buddies at the Faura smoket. At the end of it all, [livejournal.com profile] khursten, [livejournal.com profile] psychoshoujo and [livejournal.com profile] yue_dermond joined me for the evening, in exchange for free food, nice beds and good company. :3

The kids were really, really good for something totally amateur, and the best part about it was my lovely younger brother sang a full song in Filipino! I've never heard him sing in Filipino before. o_o It was also nice hanging out with the girls and kicking around, and I'm especially happy that Yue was able to come because I know how far my place is for hers~

The day after that was the start of my Epic Weekend, which involved Khursten and I zipping over to Trinoma in order to meet up with [livejournal.com profile] yukitsu, [livejournal.com profile] kye_kestrel, [livejournal.com profile] 77ws and the mythical [livejournal.com profile] synatri in order to celebrate the purchase of Yukeh's First Dress Ever, and Lynffles' birthday! Traffic was a bitch, which meant that I didn't get to stay all that long since I had somewhere else to be right after lunch, but I got to eat with them and chill for a bit! My only real regrets are that I didn't get to be with Lynffles all that long for her birthday blowout aaaaand I didn't get to watch my other half get dolled up. OTL

Bore through more terrible traffic in order to go to Pasig and come to [livejournal.com profile] mlina's lovely house and celebrate Christmas with her and her group! Managed to spot [livejournal.com profile] dreamlessness, [livejournal.com profile] nonartisan (WHO GAVE ME ANOTHER MINI GACHAPON CREEPER TO HANG FROM SOMEWHERE) and [livejournal.com profile] mochalic before they had to zip off, and chillaxed with Noey, [livejournal.com profile] redmoonmurder, Kang and the rest of Noey's friends before I had to leave YET AGAIN for the party I was going to host back at my place.

Faura Smoket Crew (guest starring [livejournal.com profile] psychoshoujo again, because I wanted to take her out for a weekend!) trickled in car by car sometime after I managed to get home (through significantly less terrible traffic), and it was absolutely lovely to have nearly everyone under my roof! THERE WAS SO MUCH FOOD slakdhgakshd household prepared stuff and everyone brought something to either eat and drink! And I introduced the lot of them to my parents (who all found them "respectful" and nice, ahaha!), took them on a tour of the whole first floor of my house (two batches with commentary, lol), and smoked a lot of interesting things from Jakarta, which Faith brought back with her from her vacation there! It was beautiful and fun and amazing, and the people who weren't able to make it were really, really missed BUT NO MATTER WE SHALL HAVE ANOTHER PARTY SOON.

[livejournal.com profile] khursten and I slept sometime after 4 AM - she and Mia woke up a little before I did hours later, and I was totally incoherent until we had lunch with my family. Saw them off sometime after that (BUT NOT BEFORE WATCHING THE SEASON FINALE OF GLEE), then kicked around until Mass. Dinner with family was nice as always, and I ended up accomplishing about 70% of all my backlogged student things before bed~

THIS COMING WEEKEND IS LOOKING CRAZY AS WELL, AHAHAHA. Hello, holiday season!

With the general paperwork out of the way and my students on track before the break, this week looks like it's going to pan out rather nicely. Kicked it off, in fact, with dinner with Anjo and [livejournal.com profile] khursten at Kamimori + dessert at this amazing DIY yogurt place called Fruity Froyo - I treated my little brother out to both once he managed to join us, since I figured I ought to do something nice for him for Christmas.

...Speaking of Christmas gifts. I've been weirdly inspired to give lots of people stuff - like, people beyond the usual suspects anyway. I guess it's because this is my second year of gainful employment at ADMU, and I've got money to spare. Time to give something back, y'know?

I am also going to spoil myself by buying a PS3, and I'll likely have a unit in my home sometime before the end of the year.

Yep.

It is time.

I had this long-ass, thought out entry on how this week has been, but since my internet connection died for most of the day, you're all going to have to settle for pseudo-bullet points and weird rambling! \o/

MONDAY: NEW SCHEDULE SORTA on the driver's (my little brother) end, since he's got earlier classes. Cue me bouncing around like a madwoman, bugging [livejournal.com profile] khursten and other unfortunates until it was time to go back to my classes. Received the equivalent of a standing ovation from one class and hurrahs all around from the other two. Suchacute, freshmen. X3

Flailing over Poetry and English 12. That is all.

TUESDAY: I think this is where I started romping about, catching up on RP things and generating tags for me to occupy myself. I don't actually remember anymore. o_o

WEDNESDAY: TRUFAX LONGEST DAY saldkgh;kshdgh had a lunch meeting, did school things, did classes, flailed a lot, dragged feet over to an interesting faculty meeting, then zipped off to a reunion with my high school classmates.

A reunion's a reunion. Nuff said.

THURSDAY: ...More tagging. Also getting pissed off because the graduate studies class I fought for dissolved and everyone thought that it'd be a Smrt Idea to tell no one until the day itself. Am yet to find out if I'll end up having a class at all this semester.

If I don't, though, then I'll take it as a sign and maximize my break.

FRIDAY: FREEDOM. And tagging. Yes, there is a pattern. OH AND I HAVE A NEW KITTEN WHO IS WHITE AND STUPID AND SPUNKY and I have named him Gintoki.

Truly, I am Takasugi now. :D

SATURDAY: WE PLANNED ON WATCHING ASTRO BOY ONLY TO DISCOVER THAT IT'S NO LONGER SHOWING IN GLORIETTA OR GREENBELT. So me, [livejournal.com profile] kye_kestrel and [livejournal.com profile] khursten ended up dragging [livejournal.com profile] yukitsu around lady stores because she made the mistake of mentioning that she needed a dress.

We have pictures. 8)

Also: I WANT CLOTHES.

SUNDAY: Yeah, that'd be today. Posting much later than originally planned because wtaf, my connection went down for all of Saturday evening and most of today! I popped in briefly at Kourtyard to fap at do some logs with the usual suspects and make sure my karma doesn't hit rock bottom poke around with more of the same!

Been loading up on Poetry in my spare time, but I'm honestly, honestly lazy. Here's hoping I'll truly be in teacher mode soon. orz

EDIT: And before I could post this, the net died again. FML.

One of the funny things I have discovered is that when I'm working on a long project like this one, I have to occasionally break away between scenes in order to watch or read porn.

I've never needed to do that before. o_o

Finally getting my RP groove back, and it is absolutely wonderful. I've also been archiving old entries in between all of this RL madness

ILU, guys. You know who you are. ♥

I could rant about the weird shizzle going on in [livejournal.com profile] hitman_reborn, and TL;DR on the art of fanmixing, but I'll save your flists the pain.

Was supposed to have my first MA class today, only to discover that it was dissolved.

I've talked about how hard it was to get that class in the first place, right?

FML.

ON OTHER NEWS MY KIDS SEEM VERY HAPPY TO SEE ME AGAIN. Idk whether it's because they like me or because they think I'm an easy professor to pass or both. Will have a proper report on that at the end of the week, yep.

Oooh look, a shiny word meter!

Have a bit of a dilemma now, though, because [livejournal.com profile] khursten and I were talking on a scene I managed to freewrite and omg I think I just derailed my own story. @_@

I hate it when I do that to myself.

Lagging on the tags over at the open log and the RP that I'm still in, and I do apologize for that. Sudden business before the beginning of the new semester, see!

Also: yesterday was FML, Ateneo Edition. [livejournal.com profile] khursten knows this well.

I'll explain in detail once everything is fixed.

BUT THE EVENING WAS NICE because I got to eat dinner out with [livejournal.com profile] simply_kim, [livejournal.com profile] nonartisan, [livejournal.com profile] dreamlessness and [livejournal.com profile] mochaholic.

Have another meme, guys.

Singapore 2009

IN B4 I CHECK EVERYTHING because if I checked everything first I'll likely crash before doing this properly, which'll mean waking up and checking everything first and delaying this entry further. o_o

/incoherent

A-anyway uh so like I mentioned a few entries back and then some, I flew off to Singapore on the 27th with Khursten ([livejournal.com profile] khursten), Yukeh ([livejournal.com profile] yukitsu) and Lyn ([livejournal.com profile] kye_kestrel). This was our first trip out as a group (and Yukeh's first trip abroad ever), and it was the most glorious adventure we've had together yet.

SORT OF DISCLAIMER: I'm extremely lazy unorganized, and I'm not too fond of doing a blow-by-blow account of things, so this entry will likely be the "abridged" version of our whole trip with lots of personal teal deer on my end. Shove off to the entries my buddies will make if you want something to, er, supplement this. XD

They will also have pictures, which means that their entries will totally top mine by default.

SHENANIGANS. )

So now I'm back in my house, showered, properly fed, practically dead on my feet but feeling the best I've had in a while. I've missed home and I've missed my family, although I don't particularly miss my country with Singapore still on the brain.

I'll be frank and say that Singapore, while lovely, was probably a place that I'd like to visit again, but not live in ever. It's... got this weird feel to it. This neither-here-nor-there, lack of "cultural" ground ambiance that sort of gets to you if you're sensitive to that sort of things. I mean, it's safe and secure and really fucking pretty, but it somehow feels empty for me.

Of course, that's all an observation on my part. Whether it's fair or not, I don't know.

Nevertheless, I made some good memories in Singapore, and it will always go down in my personal history as the first place I traveled to in the company of friends. I am also likely going to go back there very often in the future if the economy is kind to me, because I've got some real friends there that I definitely wouldn't mind seeing time and time again, from here until whenever.

/takes a deep breath

SO NOW THAT THAT IS DONE it's likely back to the regular routine. Still got a few days of sem break left to enjoy, although faculty duties are bound to kick in for me, especially with the new subjects I'll be teaching. There is also NaNoWriMo to consider, and that open RP post that I'm supposed to do for everybody.

May also need some time to figure out how to get rid of the Singlish twang. I-it's even corrupted the narrative voice in my head, as I rather rudely discovered when I attempted to read some of my books during the trip.

And I still want chicken rice. Like, lots of it.

Sooooo, flist, what did I miss? :D

EDIT: WHAT THE SHIT FLIST 520+ ENTRIES?!
izkariote: (boobs.)
2009-10-22 05:14 pm

WHO NEEDS SUBJECT LINES.

This week has been absolutely lovely so far, with all these meets with friends~ it's just too bad that I wasn't able to go out with [livejournal.com profile] mlina. That would have made it even lovelier. :<

Also: Red Cliff was absolute win. HORSE PUNCHING, GET.

It's been a nice and quiet day at home for me, just like yesterday. Beautician came over to do my nails and some waxing (yeah, I'm preparing for Singapore, bite me), and I got to roll around and poke people that I don't often get to poke on IM ([livejournal.com profile] signifies, I'm looking at you). I also got to enable a lot of people to do a lot of shiny things, so that is always cool! Am also still on my jazz trip, since I'm working my way through the huge set of songs that [livejournal.com profile] khursten gave me. Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald are pure ♥, always and ever.

...Speaking of music. Let me tell you, flist, that the section of my external HD that I devote to my music finally ran out of space yesterday. Cue me madly scrambling around to distribute files to the laptop and less congested drives on my main PC.

This must be a sign. Guess I'm bringing home a new external HD and possibly a DS from my trip next week.

New blog post up at Orzisms: The Fanfiction Meme, Now Available in Kae Flavor

Screwed up with that one. Forgot to click publish, so it didn't actually go up on the date that I specified it for. /sob

The good thing about having your parents out of the country is that you can smoke in your room without fear of getting caught, and you can eat wherever you want, whenever you want. Also: temporal freedom from Sunday Mass.

The bad thing about it is that your parents aren't around at all, and the house is incredibly, incredibly quiet.

Went to the doctor recently - [livejournal.com profile] khursten was kind enough to accompany me and keep me from flipping tables and snarling at noisy children. Have told the doctor that I'm okay with nuking my thyroid.

Will be AWOL over the summer because of it. Here's hoping all goes well.

Crazy year it's been so far, eh? The schizophrenic weather's just the tip of the iceberg.

Currently typing this from what will apparently be my last Saturday class session. This leaves my weekends free for bugging friends and getting all of my backlogged work out of the way. Apologies to the folks that I've been holding up on various fronts... will attempt to get things out and about soon.

Finished The World Ends With You in between doing my readings and my papers over the week.

Bone hard medical fact: Joshua is one of the most assholic characters in video game history.

Should I go and read Signal to Noise or should I collect the Secret Reports first?

Funi funi funi funicuLAAAAAA~~~~

Well, I've learned one thing this week:

Attempting to write a little every day, while plausible, does not exactly deliver results. ~_~

On another note, Sango burgers and portabello mushroom spread are on their own unique, unparalleled levels of amazing. I have [livejournal.com profile] kye_kestrel to thank for suggesting that she, [livejournal.com profile] yukitsu and I go out to Rockwell yesterday, since I didn't have class. [livejournal.com profile] khursten followed us later, which was really cool as well. I realize that I truly live for weekends like this one.

Orzisms post: on Katekyo Hitman Reborn, the one ex-boyfriend who wasn't an asshole

This link has done the rounds on part of the interwebs already, since [livejournal.com profile] jusrecht was kind enough to take time out to read it and even went so far as to linking it on her flist. It's basically my look at the series as it is now, and why I appear to be falling out of it.

Still ficcing, though, if only to finish Return on Investment and my new pet project, Fiore di Nuvola (refer to minibang!). Flaws aside, I've always been attracted to KHR because of its potential, and writing this perceived potential out in my own way, through fanfic, is always the best way to express that.

On more blog-related news: I set Thursday aside to fuss over the thing, so I have posts scheduled to go up every week from here until October. Will pimp the links out on this journal, whenever I happen to remember to do so.

Finished Suikoden Tierkreis: I blame that on [livejournal.com profile] dreamlessness, who started the game sometime after me but finished first, thus kicking me into action out of guilt.

Yes [livejournal.com profile] factorielle, I will attempt to write BUT I CANNOT GUARANTEE QUALITY. /sob

Now starting on The World Ends With You, like the slowpoke I am. Terrible game, I tell you - brings out all the obsessive-compulsive tendencies in a player like myself.

Contemplating another friends' cut. With the exception of the people that I meet regularly or poke a lot online, I find that the internet's becoming rather toxic for me again.

Shuffling back in.

The writing of this entry was massively delayed because of Suikoden Tierkreis.

No, I do not have a DS - [livejournal.com profile] khursten lent me hers, with encouragement from [livejournal.com profile] yukitsu, because the both of them are delightfully evil.

My PSP is with Khursten now. orz

Cold aside, this week was pretty glorious because two vacations that consequently landed on the only remaining work days that I had pretty much left me with a four-day weekend. Used Tuesday and Wednesday up for tackling my backlog (which I managed to finish), and rolled around on Thursday. Met with the girls on Friday, which felt strangely like Saturday because lmao, long weekend is long.

Friday was also the day that I took home Khursten's DS, and it ate me alive. It's... still chewing on my arm. ._.

Saturday class was lulzy because we tackled Formalism and Reader Response Theory. Had a lot to contribute to both while I was tackling the gazillion tags I got from all of my RP accounts. I'm getting better at juggling all this stuff, but also realizing that I may definitely have to cut down on my activities and RPs soon. There are so many other things that I ought to be or would rather be doing with my time now.

Title: Insanity is hereditary.
Characters/Pairing(s): Tsuyoshi, Iemitsu, Shamal, mentions of others
Rating: G
Summary: On the eve of a fight for succession, some not-so-tired old men get together for a good drink.
Warnings? Manry bonding, and alcohol.
Notes: Originally written for [livejournal.com profile] khr_undercover. I wrote for the theme, "Origins", and I actually won, which is pretty cool. o_o The title is taken from a theme found in one of the [livejournal.com profile] 31_days sets!

1,495 words.

...There is a funny story behind this one. See, I joined khr_uc not knowing that it was actually a contest, and since I was srsly busy, I forgot to join the community and keep track of the updates. So, when I finally found out that the results were up and I saw my name on the post as one of the winners for the theme competition, I was like "whut". XD;

Still, it was challenging and very fun. I'm considering joining the third round, but with my hit record with writing, it's probably better if I didn't.

Deadline for the minibang is coming up by the end of this month. I've checked my entry over for the umpteenth time, and I figure that I can get by on minimal editing. The thing, as a whole, looks perfectly fine on its own.

Been tripping out massively on movies lately, and that sort of made me realize something about my writerly cycle that I'll probably blog about sometime.

I should also blog about my stand on KHR!, since I've been gabbing off to a select few people ever since the first chapter for this month came out.

For the moment, though, I'll pimp out the entry on Nine Inch Nails that I made sometime back, since a couple of you guys were asking.

FREEDOM, I CAN HAS IT.

This entry is LONG OVERDUE, but I've spent the last few days drowning in paperwork -- this was something that I did on purpose, as I wanted to make sure that I did all my teacherly stuff before the actual break. That way, I'd be free to party slack off be productive in other, less academic areas of my life throughout the Christmas season. I CAN HAPPILY COLLAPSE IN A CORNER SOMEWHERE NOW THAT EVERYTHING IS DONE! \o/

Srsly, though, this Responsible Adult thing? Sometimes I want to kick myself in the head for it. I might work myself straight to the coffin at this rate. Somebody needs to tell me when to slow down. *fail*

[livejournal.com profile] kye_kestrel had her birthday celebration last Saturday over at Powerplant; [livejournal.com profile] anothermiyaw hitched a ride with me from Katipunan, after my Texts and Textuality Class. Traffic was bad, so we kinda ended up shooting the breeze for the good hour that we spent swimming through a sea of cars. Met up with the boss and [livejournal.com profile] yukitsu once we got there: everyone else - [livejournal.com profile] khrusten, [livejournal.com profile] 77ws, [livejournal.com profile] ficcentricity and [livejournal.com profile] lonelybusiness who is fail because she thought we were meeting up in Glorietta - arrived later. Cue dinner shenanigans. Cue crazy gifts. KRISTEL, UNDERSTAND THE CHAOS YOU BROUGHT DOWN UPON ALL OF US WITH THOSE GIFTS. B|

Spent the next few days after that Drowning in Papers whenever I was home and doing school shenanigans whenever I was in Ateneo. Finally managed to finish up everything sometime last night, and today was light and easy. Had my first Christmas party with the English Department. That was pretty much an awesome way to kick off my break. ♥

Goals That Will Probably Not Be Met For Christmas Break 2008:
* Work on my pitch to Image Comics. I'm planning on pitching Endtimes. *crosses fingers*
* BOND WITH MY PS2. ASDK;LHG;LAHSDGHADSG TOO MANY PEOPLE POSTING ABOUT PERSONA 4.
* BOND WITH MY PSP. I'VE ONLY BEEN USING IT FOR MUSIC. orz
* Catch up with my backlogged anime, manga, movies and TV series. The list keeps growing, whut.
* Catch up with all the books I've bought but haven't even really cracked open.
* Sort all those images. I HAD A GOOD START.
* Fix my game plan for the rest of the semester with my kids.
* Write more Return on Investment after I've finished all my Christmas gift fics.

Now that I've mentioned it, I should be posting some of the gift fics that I managed to finish before work came rolling in. In the meantime, I'm pimping out the fics that I wrote for [livejournal.com profile] kye_kestrel - I did my usual ## number of drabbles = to celebrant's age thing for her~

My thirteenth month pay thingie came in last week, and Mom just put it on time deposit - this means a huge rate of return in terms of interest every month. This suddenly makes some plans that I had for 2009 very feasible, so I've decided to go for a major Poverty Plan to make sure that I achieve them at the projected dates.

Here's hoping that I make it.

NaNoWriMo Official Status Report Number Five

I bring you another mindless butchering of a female character in Reborn. ._. Somebody tell me if I'm doing something wrong, okay? This fic is making me write people I've never written before.

40063 / 50000 words. 80% done!

THE WORD COUNT METER IS REALLY A LIE NOW alkhf;lsadhhg;lhad;lhg I should at least figure out how long this fic is actually going to be sometime soon, huh. Just so that I can adjust the damned thing. orz

Okay, so: I promised a more coherent post, but in actuality, I really don't have much to say. o_o My weekend has treated me really well, though, as the word count should indicate. I'm totally avoiding the teacherly work that I ought to be doing, but it's not like I've got nothing for my kids. I'll just review possible game plans later, after Sunday Mass.

Finally had the first session of my second graduate studies class, and now I can say for certain that I'm really going to enjoy this semester. Speculative Fiction is very relevant to my casual interests, and Texts & Textuality class looks like it's going to completely blow me out of the water in all the right ways. I've even got a final paper planned for the class already - a treatise on the texuality of video games, with role-playing games being my primary example. I'll have to talk to my professor about it and hope that it sells.

Speaking of papers: for those of you guys on my academic filter, expect my Reborn paper to come up here really soon.

Haven't really been catching up on the fandom front of anything lately because NaNoWriMo pretty much eats up my life these days, but I do have one thing to say: With Chapter 218, we might have been totally Shounen Jump'd. What is with these authors and making us WTF so hard. XD

My weekend started on Friday, and it was absolutely lovely. Lolled around in my room, pretending to work working on my syllabi for the classes I'll be teaching this semester. I stopped late in the afternoon and lollygagged until [livejournal.com profile] khursten, [livejournal.com profile] kye_kestrel and [livejournal.com profile] yukitsu turned up for another Sleepover Koushien at the Punzalan Residence. I GOT TO SLEEP WITH LYNFFLES WHILE KHURSTEN WAS RAPING YUKEH SOMEWHERE ON THE FLOOR. It was fuckin' glorious. 8D

Morning meant crack, fangirlism and Khursten and I trying to pick out more future projects for [livejournal.com profile] new_treasures BUT SRSLY I REALLY GOT DERAILED BECAUSE I ENDED UP CLICKING ALL OVER THE PLACE AND FINDING ALL THIS DOUJINSHI! D18, FTW!. Birthday celebration took place in later in the afternoon. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO MANAGED TO COME, I REALLY LOVE YOU GUYS. ♥♥♥

On a semi-related note: the scanlating team at Entropy, they really, really need a life. Maybe it will keep them from wanking. ...Maybe.

Sunday was a quiet affair, beyond the random strange of my family being the mass sponsors for the morning celebration. We all went out later that day to shop for school supplies... Trinoma was fucking crowded. I think it was because everything was on sale. Remind me to never go to a mall during a sale again unless I'm desperate. I have most of what I need for school and teaching now, though, so I suppose that's good? B|

I should be working on my syllabus for Lit 13, but I'm writing this entry instead. In fairness, I'm nearly done with it... took me hours to choose what I feel are the right stories. Here's hoping that it all works out.

By the way. Assassin's Creed is the coolest assassin game since Tenchu. Peter was having the time of his life playing it, and I think that it's only a matter of time before I try it out for myself.

EDIT: BHEX WROTE ME A REBORN FIC. IN TAGALOG. IN FUCKING TAGALOG! ♥♥♥

On other news, I finished Valkryie Profile a few hours ago. The normal ending is extremely disappointing. >_> And Baccano's OAV doesn't seem to be as interesting as the TV series, IMHO, but it may be too early for me to say.

Steady as I go~

The comments on my latest post have given me a rough idea of what it is like for [livejournal.com profile] yukitsu on a regular basis. SPAMMING IS AMAZING. LOOKIT ALL THESE MESSAGES IN MY INBOX! D8

And on other LJ news, I really need to renew my paid account soon. ._.

I literally spent all of yesterday lying flat on my back in bed/slouched in my office chair in front of my laptop/rocking back and forth in the rocking chair in my parent's room/at the meal table, playing Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth on the PSP. THAT GAME HAS SWALLOWED ME WHOLE.

Cut for geek talk. )

I've lost a good night of sleep to this game in spite of the fact that I said I'd go to bed early. =_= Curse good games and their effect on my body clock!

I'm taking a break to write this post and idle, after having a sudden deluge of work to do at the office. LAN cable is still not working, but the wireless has gotten godly fast now that the weather is kinda-sorta clearing up down here. o_o I also need to slow down and idle soon, because I'll be leaving the office early. Heading to Greenbelt to meet Yukeh and Khursten! :3

...Not that I wasn't already idling earlier. [livejournal.com profile] kye_kestrel was subjected to the Long-Short Summary of the final and total revamp of Endtimes over y!m. GOMEN NYAA, LYNFFLES, I HOPE IT WAS WORTH READING.

I wasted five minutes on trying to come up with a subject here.

So here's the lowdown on the teaching thing, as promised... the demo teaching in itself seemed to go okay (class was generally dead, but I managed to get students to recite of their own accord, so~), and apparently the panelists really, really liked me. Panel interview was, uh, interesting, and the talk I had with the department chair after everything wrapped up was enlightening and reassuring at the same time.

I'll know the results within this week, or maybe next week. At this point, it may be safe to say that if I don't get in, it's because there just aren't any openings given the returning faculty members and other factors. Here's hoping, right?

At least I know that I can teach a class. I read the student evaluation sheets, and beyond maybe 2-5 semi-negative ones, the rest sounded like they really liked me. I suppose, if for anything, I can walk away with that.

...Uh, I'd be more in-depth about the actual things that happened, but they're best told in person, so.

I didn't go out last Saturday (surprising, huh?), so I took that opportunity to finish FF7: Crisis Core. Overall, my take on the game is that it wasn't bad at all... fighting system's interesting, graphics are typical Squeenix stellar, and the story, although it has is hitches, singlehandedly retconned and repaired the FF7 canon. I highly recommend all interested parties on my flist to play it if they haven't already. And yes, the ending pretty much sucks for Zack, but he inadvertently saves the Planet by saving Cloud, right? So I guess it works out. Even if he loses all his friends and his girl and his life in the long run. o_o

Once Crisis Core was out of my PSP, I suddenly had a bucketload of freed space. JAD pirated copies apparently curse my machine, so I'll have to wait for my chance to buy an original before I touch that one. I did, however, reload BoF 3 and Harvest Moon unto Kalika!PSP, to be played when I'm up to going back to them. FFT is still sitting around, but I'm so lazy.

I started on Final Fantasy 1 (yes, Final fucking-Fantasy 1, baby~), Valkryie Profile (I don't remember the original version of the game having FMVS! D:) and Tales of Eternia. I'm currently fixated on ToE, but it might be because it's my way of torturing myself over Tales of the Abyss. See, if I go back to ToA, this will be my third time of completely restarting the game. Thank you for getting lost on me, memory card. u_u

...Which reminds me. I have to restart Devil Summoner, don't I? *crai*

On other news, the old school-ness of FF1 compels me to find a way to play Final Fantasy 6. But I guess that won't be happening for a while.

Saturday was Game Day, Sunday was Mother's Day (which is synonymous to Super Family Day, with my out-of-house bros and their wives coming around to hang out with us), and today became Marathoning Tiem Day following my teaching stuff, since the best way to relax after something like that is to completely veg out.

Battlestar Galactica = picking up. Slowly. Maybe. The pace kinda reminds me of Heroes Season 2, so I'm hopeful.

Supernatural = picking up also. I guess.

House M.D. = I see what you did thar, Amber. B|

Code Geass R2 = it's a fucking soap opera. WITH MECHS!

Golgo 13 = Fucking mancake. That girl in the latest ep was such a bint.

Persona ~Trinity Soul~ = A convoluted story is convoluted~

Iyeah, I really suck at giving reviews. u_u IT'S THE SECOND DAY OF THE BLEEDS FOR ME OKEY.

Now I'm going to go and watch other stuff.

2008-05-11 10:39 pm

Bwuh?

I was supposed to make a much longer post with important stuff and random updates over the past few days, but playing Patapon/Tales of Eternia/Valkryie Profile on the PSP, Mother's Day family stuff, a blackout and dinner at a fancy restaurant kept that from happening.

HOLY FUCK TEACHING DEMO TOMORROW. @_@

...I think I'm ready. I think.

Proper post will follow when it's all done.

Fun, I can has it.

WAT I'M SUPPOSED TO BE WORKING ON THAT WORKSHEET THINGIE THAT WILL GUIDE ME IN MY DEMO TEACHING SESSION ON MONDAY, LIKE, RIGHT NOW.

...But, intarwebz stuff first. And other things. B|

I didn't go to work yesterday because I needed a weekend, since I probably won't get one went out with [livejournal.com profile] ryvaeus and [livejournal.com profile] ultra_arvin as some sort of impromptu celebration for Arvin, who refuses to ceiebrate his own birthday. We met up at JP's house (the one in Alexandra, not his condo unit~), and zipped over to Metrowalk for lunch at Misato. We also went to a, uh, most interesting shop (ask me here and I'll answer you in private, for security purposes 8D) before Arvin had to leave for his comics writing workshop, WHICH I SO DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT. DO YOU HEAR ME, ELBERT OR? >___> *sends stalker waves*

So. Yeah. Since Arvin wanted to watch Speed Racer later in the evening but he had that thingie to go to first, JP and I went over to Shangri-La to oggle the games in Data Blitz (PERSONA 3 FES IS FUCKING CHEAP + Damn it, all the fangirls/fanboys beat me to an original of Crisis Core~~~~~ + Original copies of FFT and Jeanne D'arc are so tempting! *flail!*) before going back to his place just to hang out. He helped me format my memory stick for Kalika!PSP, since it somehow corrupted my copy of Crisis Core. T_T I'll have to load it up later and hope it works. If the FMVs still freeze up, then I definitely need to get an original soon.

7 PM eventually came around, so we rushed over to Shang for the movie -- we missed the first few minutes, but it really wasn't much. THE COLORS, SO BOGGLING. It gets even worse with the races. That aside, though, the movie was actually okay. I never really watched Speed Racer as a kid, so I can't give a proper critique or whatever, but I found it fine?

Movie ended past nine, so we went down to Via Mare for dinner (WHICH JP ALSO PAID FOR! ILU, COUSIN!) and talked about more randomness before JP's driver picked us up. I got to watch Arvin and JP try out various gay things with Solid Snake and Ganondorf in Brawl (THERE IS EVIDENCE ON JP'S WII BUT I CAN'T POST IT HERE UNTIL WE FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET FILES FROM THERE), and JP also tossed the controller to me a few times so that I could try it out.

Button mashing on Brawl is so cool. Like, you don't technically know what you're doing, but it's cool. o_o

Slept Very Late (read: 11:47 AND STFU [livejournal.com profile] yukitsu THAT'S VERY LATE FOR ME NOW ;A;), and woke up a little over an hour ago. My Muse is clawing at me to write moar KHR porn shorts for 8059, D18, 8018 and Shamal59. She always comes alive when I'm using my brain for something lit-related. *pif*

Um. Yeah. So now that this entry's done, I should srsly, srsly get to work. ._.

nice and easy.

Before all else, here's an important announcement on LIGHTS OUT, courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] magnetic_rose:

Lights Out would like to invite all Filipino yaoi fans to the the 5th Lights Out: Five Years of Fantasy! The convention will be held on the 6th of September 2008 at Ikeda Hall/Balay Kalinaw (next to Ilang-Ilang Residence Hall), University of the Philippines Diliman Campus, Quezon City. Festivities will start at 1:00 PM and will wrap up at 7:00 PM.

Tickets to the convention are pegged at PhP 150 each (inclusive of single-use event badge and Library pass), while tickets to Cafe Le Mirage are at PhP 80 each (inclusive of one half-hour tea set). Please visit the Events page for more information.

You can blame my long absence on me getting re-acquainted with my PS2. [livejournal.com profile] kye_kestrel was kind enough to burn me the undubbed version of Persona 3: FES (I actually downloaded it myself, but my image burner popped out faulty discs! ;_;). Unfortunately, since my memory card is STILL missing, I can't take advantage of all the work I did in the original version of the game. That means that I'm starting from scratch with P3, and I have to do things the hard way in the Aigis chapter of the game. >_> It's starting to get annoying.

Lesee, what other cool stuff has happened... my parents came home from Batangas on Sunday (big relief: crazy brother was starting to seriously get to me), and I got to COMPLETELY veg out like anything yesterday (read: PS2). Most of my time at work was devoted to fixing up my Dad's account on Multiply -- he wanted me to upload the pictures we took in Batanes so that we can tell the rest of the tour group about it. I also went out, briefly, to cash in my check for the time I put in last month. I think I can buy my new PC very, very soon. :D

...That's assuming that I don't make any other big investments in the next few days, though. I'm half-inclined to hit Data Blitz and check if they have FES out on original. There's also the fact that I need to get myself an original of Crisis Core: mine has started stalling on me, particularly whenever a summon DMW comes out. ._. And, of course, buying Crisis Core means that I'm obligated to buy Final Fantasy Tactics, since I'm a collector that way. AH, SO DIFFICULT.

Gamer and money woes aside, what's probably the best and scariest thing that happened today was that Ateneo's English Department phoned in: since the chair of the department knows me, I don't need to go through an interview with her. They want me to do demo teaching. Like, soon. o_o They actually wanted me to do it this coming Thursday, but I said I wasn't ready. But yeah. Fuck. O_O

It's semi-amusing that the teaching thing popped up before the results of my grad studies application though.

ON OTHER NEWS: [livejournal.com profile] yukitsu, your Lolichan is being stupid again. She signed up for the mini-bang at [livejournal.com profile] hitman_reborn even though she's never actually written anything or posted any of her fics online. Now half of me wishes that she'll submit an entry just so that I can smack her. :D

*flap flap flap*

Spent Saturday out with [livejournal.com profile] kye_kestrel and [livejournal.com profile] yukitsu, where we ate good food and watched Forbidden Kingdom. IDK, PEOPLE, I LIKED IT. I mean, really: how can you go wrong with Jackie Chan and Jet Li in one movie? And, and, it was a nifty take on the whole Journey to the West thing. Or maybe I'm the only one who finds it nifty because I didn't know jack shit about the movie and just watched it because Jackie Chan and Jet Li were both there. *coughs* ANYWAY I LIKED IT.

Of course, beyond the movie there was crack and plotting involved. I gave birth to three new characters, a new pairing and a motherfucking Zombie Attack ala Silent Hill/Resident Evil for Bloodsport. Best thing about the new characters is that I may be able to use them for certain parts of Endtimes. AND TWO OF THEM ARE LIKE MY TRIBUTE TO KATEKYO HITMAN REBORN. *bad fangirl, y/y?*

...Which reminds me: I really have to go over the old profiles and fix them sometime. Yeah. Someday. Uh-huh.

Yukeh and I stayed out til late because the driver had to attend to Peter and my grandma~ that was cool, though, because Yukeh slept over here anyway. Parents and my older brother were out attending a wedding in Pangasinan, so we managed to have another sleepover koushien. For great justice!

Today went by nice and slow. I even managed to sneak in a cigarette. ♥ I may play a bit more of Baroque tomorrow after I get home from doing Ateneo stuff... assuming, of course, that I go out at all. Maybe I'll just run my errands on Wednesday or something. *lazy* I could also spend tomorrow looking for my memory card. It went missing somehow. o_o I'd ask my older brother about it, but he can get annoying to talk to when it comes to stuff like this.

...I really do want to find that memory card though. I mean, if I don't find it, that means I have to restart several games. ._.

[livejournal.com profile] le_esperance, I'm nearly done burning the stuff I owe you. It took a while because of... well, stuff. BUT YEAH. How shall I get it to you? Will we meet up in ADMU?

Hurhur. Might marathon some more animu tonight, and then maybe get some plotting done. If the wrist doesn't start acting up again, I just might start on my birthday gift for Yukeh. 21 FICLETS/DRABBLES/WHATEVERS, YO.
