Hi, guys. Lots of things have happened. In sum:

Still don't have a job. I am okay with this.

Gaming a lot, writing a lot, RPing like a boss, doing well in my studies, dealing with stupid classmates.

Switched ISPs to something faster. This is about the only reason why I'm finally doing personal LJ things - my old connection just couldn't load all the stuff going on on my flist, and I couldn't download doujin/anime anyway, so there wasn't a point. Coming back now that I have the means.

Feeling better about myself and the direction I'm going in, overall. Things will only get better from here on, with luck.

How have all of you been? Apologies: I suck at keeping up with you folks these days. You're welcome to scold me through the usual means. As a sort of peace offering, have some fics:

GINTAMA. // A lover as faithful as guilt.
GINTAMA. // Something's Burning: Fate could create you and I.
GINTAMA. // Something's Burning: Open up and let me inside.
GINTAMA. // Something's Burning: Errands and affairs.
GINTAMA. // Something's Burning: Deny, deny, deny.
GINTAMA. // Something's Burning: Regarder la lumiere
GINTAMA. // Something's Burning: Nautical dawn.
GINTAMA. // Something's Burning: I will be the water for your thirst.
GINTAMA. // Something's Burning: Epilogue.

Fandom bias, thy name is Gintama.
H-hahahaha, I suppose a somewhat monthly update is better than no update at alll...

Hi gayz. Belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and all that jazz. My life? It has been nothing but crazy as of late, but in a good way.

SO AS OF LAST ENTRY I said I was going to SG, and I did, and it was really fun because [livejournal.com profile] khursten was with me and we stayed with [livejournal.com profile] tasogareika, which meant that we got to bug her 24/7, which we did. The conference was also super cool, because the topics were awesome, and I met people, and I also met this lady whose papers I actually refer to in my papers, which is the academic equivalent of a celebrity orgasm.

Going home meant going back to the Christmas rush, which wasn't so bad - didn't end up going to Baguio with the family, but I did give myself an early vacation. (I deserved it, okay. T_T) The break was just what I needed to get myself back on track, since we had our usual huge-ass gathering at home, and my amazing cousin got my bro and I Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood (THE ENDING OF WHICH IS TYPICALLY WHAT THE FUCK). New Year's Eve, however, was slightly different, because a family friend of my father's invited our clan to spend New Year's with them in the kick-ass resort that they own.

Fireworks, free flowing booze, clubbing music and awesome accommodations. For those two days, all was right with the world.

ANYWAY SO. As those of you on Plurk already know, I won't be finishing my semester with Ateneo this year - this is because NUS offered me a research grant. ...Sort of. More like, I was given a strong referral, and now I'm waiting to see if the my proposal is good enough for them. How this happened? Just ask me; I don't want to talk about it online. This is kind of a win-win situation for me, because if I do end up really getting in, I'm spending the next two months in Singapore and getting paid even more for work that I love to do even more than teaching. If I don't actually make it, then at least I got to escape from a batch of kids that I didn't really enjoy teaching.

Of course, I'd prefer it if I got in, s-so. Here's hoping.

As it is, I have done all the preparations on my end, so I just need their word and I'm good to go. The English Department was real sweet about me going for a bit then coming back to teach for the next school year, and I managed to drop all of my classes and take a leave without too much hassle.

Oh yeah. I am writing again, more or less regularly. It is an amazing feeling.

Update more.

Use LJ and the internet for things other than RP, plurk, student shit, grad studies shit, downloads and poking people.

Update more.

Do a srs friends cut and zone in on what really matters. TIME, IT IS A HARD THING TO COME BY.

Grit your teeth and stick by the game plan. You can take a break next year. You can leave the brats behind for a bit. ALL WILL BE WELL.

Your new motto is kebs na lang. Live it, love it, breathe it.

Write more. Yes.

Use this journal. And make coherent posts. ...And try not to update at ungodly hours.

Update more.

On other news: my students make me want to go HULK SMAAAAASH, the article I've got pending for publication has just been typeset, and in spite of all the school shit and the bustle of everything and the stress, things between me and some of the people who truly matter to me are a-okay.

I do solemnly swear that I'll have better entries than this in the future.

BECAUSE THINGS HAVE BEEN BATSHIT HERE ;lskdah;ghadg--

BIRTHDAY; ate dinner with ze family - introduced them to Nihonbashitei, where much money was spent but great food was eaten!

On the weekend, I invited [livejournal.com profile] khursten, [livejournal.com profile] yukitsu and [livejournal.com profile] kye_kestrel over to my house for some quiet times! We rolled around a bit, and then I made the glorious mistake of introducing them to Heavy Rain.

Suffice to say, we did not really sleep.

OH YEAH I got lovely presents from like, everyone. Plurk was awesome that day too. ♥

SC LUNCH; ate with Yukeh, Lynffles, Nami and FM. Stalker pictures were taken for Celi (as requested, I believe), and good crepes were had!

No, I did not have motor oil stop calling me a machine, guys. >_>

DRIVING; Manila roads are, indeed, batshit.

Someday, I will get used to it.

SMOKING; I quit. 8D

SCHOOL; orientations, orientations, orientations, meeting new faculty people, grabbing my schedule. I've registered to a single class for my grad studies as well, although I was hoping to put in more units. We're terribly short on able professors, though, so lol, tutorial for me again.

Tried a different approach with my syllabus this time, namely doing a day-by-day breakdown, changing my reading list around and constructing modules that I've felt are necessary if I want to mint out the kind of students my university claims to have. Here's hoping everything goes well.

CONFERENCE; THIS IS CRAZY dg;lhsdghahdg BUT THINGS ARE BEING ARRANGED. I am not making much headway in hacking down my huge-ass paper to something short, beautiful and publication-worthy though.

Conference is on the 29th, so I'll be flying out by the 27th and in Los Angeles from then until July 3. Relatives are all raring to see me, and I am aiming to see some friends there as well.

RANDOM THINGS; I CLEANED MY ROOM. Sort of. I'm... still not done, actually.

I also keep telling myself that I have to finish my fic archive and never get around to doing it. Wrote some new things too, but I can't post them until I finish my archive because I am OCD that way.

I also kind of really want to fix my files and my icons because I sorta said I'd do those as well before summer ended...

Anyway uh, that's it.

MORE PICTURES COMING SOON. ISH.

Idk how long it's been since the last time that I did this, but I suppose it doesn't matter.

Long and short of it, guys? Hit me. Hard and fast. With your desired fandom, and the desired prompt, and your desired character/pairing/premise. As many times as you want on this post.

No guarantees that I'll write it, but I'll sure as hell try.

Yeah, this is me trying to put my thoughts into order, and give myself something to do in between all the RL shizzle on my plate. Also: because it's damned nice, to constantly write, even if it comes out fail.

Also: this post is your time to remind me of any personal promises I made to fic for you, and did not end up keeping up. orz

Fandoms I've written for, or would like to try to write for: TrC, Cowboy Bebop, Mushishi, Supernatural, Last Exile, Blood+, Clover, Samurai Champloo, The World Ends With You, Temeraire, Avatar, Final Fantasy 7, Suikoden (I-III + Tierkreis), Bleach, Full Metal Alchemist, DOGS, Gundam Seed, Kingdom Hearts, Oofuri, Persona 3, KHR, Metal Gear Solid, DtB, D.Grayman, FF10, FF12, Gintama, Soul Eater, XXXHOLiC, Harry Potter, Xenogears, Devil May Cry, Tales of the Abyss, Count Cain, Devil Summoner, Final Fantasy Tactics, Bounen no Xam’d, Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann, Black Lagoon, Eureka 7, Loveless, Gankutsuou, Tokyo Majin, FF9, Ghost Hunt, Magna Carta, Ouran, Prince of Tennis, Air Gear, Peacemaker, Sailor Moon, Gunslinger Girl, Code Geass, Kekkaishi, Star Ocean 3, House MD, Fruits Basket, MPD Psycho, Monster, Moyashimon, Toward the Terra, Kurenai, Wild Adapter, Odin Sphere, Hikaru no Go, One Piece, Seirei no Moribito, Nabari no Ou, Sengoku Basara, Ares

RPs that I have written for, or can try writing for: [livejournal.com profile] amatomnes, [livejournal.com profile] reborn_biz (Yeah I don't care if it's dead, bite me), [livejournal.com profile] theskytides, [livejournal.com profile] soul_campaign, [livejournal.com profile] thespiderswalk

My original projects: Endtimes (and all universes and installments within it), Bloodsport, Apocalypse Please, Citrus Avenue

And now, the long-ass list, all of which were shamelessly ripped from the prompts from a variety of fic writing comms.

Yeah, the ones with the dates are from [livejournal.com profile] 31_days. ILU you guys, even if some of the commenters there are - excuse the term - totally self-entitled bitches.

LOOK MA I CAN CODE. )

Yeah.

I'm totally NOT trying to kill myself here. :\
Well, I've learned one thing this week:

Attempting to write a little every day, while plausible, does not exactly deliver results. ~_~

On another note, Sango burgers and portabello mushroom spread are on their own unique, unparalleled levels of amazing. I have [livejournal.com profile] kye_kestrel to thank for suggesting that she, [livejournal.com profile] yukitsu and I go out to Rockwell yesterday, since I didn't have class. [livejournal.com profile] khursten followed us later, which was really cool as well. I realize that I truly live for weekends like this one.

Orzisms post: on Katekyo Hitman Reborn, the one ex-boyfriend who wasn't an asshole

This link has done the rounds on part of the interwebs already, since [livejournal.com profile] jusrecht was kind enough to take time out to read it and even went so far as to linking it on her flist. It's basically my look at the series as it is now, and why I appear to be falling out of it.

Still ficcing, though, if only to finish Return on Investment and my new pet project, Fiore di Nuvola (refer to minibang!). Flaws aside, I've always been attracted to KHR because of its potential, and writing this perceived potential out in my own way, through fanfic, is always the best way to express that.

On more blog-related news: I set Thursday aside to fuss over the thing, so I have posts scheduled to go up every week from here until October. Will pimp the links out on this journal, whenever I happen to remember to do so.

Finished Suikoden Tierkreis: I blame that on [livejournal.com profile] dreamlessness, who started the game sometime after me but finished first, thus kicking me into action out of guilt.

Yes [livejournal.com profile] factorielle, I will attempt to write BUT I CANNOT GUARANTEE QUALITY. /sob

Now starting on The World Ends With You, like the slowpoke I am. Terrible game, I tell you - brings out all the obsessive-compulsive tendencies in a player like myself.

Contemplating another friends' cut. With the exception of the people that I meet regularly or poke a lot online, I find that the internet's becoming rather toxic for me again.

The writing of this entry was massively delayed because of Suikoden Tierkreis.

No, I do not have a DS - [livejournal.com profile] khursten lent me hers, with encouragement from [livejournal.com profile] yukitsu, because the both of them are delightfully evil.

My PSP is with Khursten now. orz

Cold aside, this week was pretty glorious because two vacations that consequently landed on the only remaining work days that I had pretty much left me with a four-day weekend. Used Tuesday and Wednesday up for tackling my backlog (which I managed to finish), and rolled around on Thursday. Met with the girls on Friday, which felt strangely like Saturday because lmao, long weekend is long.

Friday was also the day that I took home Khursten's DS, and it ate me alive. It's... still chewing on my arm. ._.

Saturday class was lulzy because we tackled Formalism and Reader Response Theory. Had a lot to contribute to both while I was tackling the gazillion tags I got from all of my RP accounts. I'm getting better at juggling all this stuff, but also realizing that I may definitely have to cut down on my activities and RPs soon. There are so many other things that I ought to be or would rather be doing with my time now.

Title: Insanity is hereditary.
Characters/Pairing(s): Tsuyoshi, Iemitsu, Shamal, mentions of others
Rating: G
Summary: On the eve of a fight for succession, some not-so-tired old men get together for a good drink.
Warnings? Manry bonding, and alcohol.
Notes: Originally written for [livejournal.com profile] khr_undercover. I wrote for the theme, "Origins", and I actually won, which is pretty cool. o_o The title is taken from a theme found in one of the [livejournal.com profile] 31_days sets!

1,495 words.

...There is a funny story behind this one. See, I joined khr_uc not knowing that it was actually a contest, and since I was srsly busy, I forgot to join the community and keep track of the updates. So, when I finally found out that the results were up and I saw my name on the post as one of the winners for the theme competition, I was like "whut". XD;

Still, it was challenging and very fun. I'm considering joining the third round, but with my hit record with writing, it's probably better if I didn't.

Deadline for the minibang is coming up by the end of this month. I've checked my entry over for the umpteenth time, and I figure that I can get by on minimal editing. The thing, as a whole, looks perfectly fine on its own.

Been tripping out massively on movies lately, and that sort of made me realize something about my writerly cycle that I'll probably blog about sometime.

I should also blog about my stand on KHR!, since I've been gabbing off to a select few people ever since the first chapter for this month came out.

For the moment, though, I'll pimp out the entry on Nine Inch Nails that I made sometime back, since a couple of you guys were asking.

Nine Inch Nails and How I Owe Them Just Short of Everything

May open myself up for prompts. Possibly when my brain stops dribbling out of my nose.
izkariote: (productivity.)
( Jul. 16th, 2009 08:54 pm)
Quick pimp-outs before updates!

+ Fanfic for [livejournal.com profile] fushimiru, [livejournal.com profile] theskytides RPG; Raidou and Naoto, "When are you going to love you as much as I do?"
+ Fanfic, Metal Gear Solid 3; Big Boss, "Slowly twisting the lilac stalks"
+ Fanmix, KHR!, for [livejournal.com profile] desumethis; Xanxus & Squalo - Married, with Domestic Violence!

It's good to be mixing again, and even better to be writing again. Currently working on a *cough* surprise KHR! fic, and it's going well. I just might make the deadline without problems.

As some of you already know, I went out with my folks to the Canadian Embassy. Passport renewal is death serious business, so serious, in fact, that it entailed being stuck on the road for nearly two hours (CURSE YOU, WEATHER!) and another hour-long wait because the dudes ahead took forever and a day.

Was supposed to go and see [livejournal.com profile] khursten (and later meet up with the Koushien for dinner along Tomas Morato), but we had to take a rain check because lol, well. Rain. Anyway, ended up tagging along with my folks the whole day - first to Glorietta (mom wanted to get her watches fixed at the service center), then to Megamall (dad wanted to canvas the prices of shotguns at the gun convention).

In spite of the fact that I've only pretty much just gotten home, it was rather nice, spending time with the folks. One funny thing that happened today was my dad attempting to read what I was working on over my shoulder. I... sort of panicked because I was doing gay porn. Um. Yeah. /)_(\

Oh, I also saw [livejournal.com profile] yukitsu for a bit! We finally got our gelato! ♥

Because of all the waiting time I had today, I got to finish Misha McGlenny's McMafia, after nearly a year of picking it up and putting it down. It's a fascinating read exploring the relationship between organized crime and globalization, and I strongly recommend it to whoever's into those topics.

With that done, I can go on to crawling through the other selections on my book shelf, and the book that [livejournal.com profile] lonelybusiness lent me a long, long, LONG time ago. *sob* RL keeps me pretty much too busy to really go through books unless I'm in transition or transport, since I'm usually occupied with so many other things when I'm actually free.

This has to change, though. Gotta make reading for leisure a much more regular habit, the way it used to be.

Funky animu again this season. Bakemonogatari and Tokyo Magnitude 8 look exceptionally well-done, for one.
