sob

I have to stop forgetting to check my LJ. I mean, I always get these vague thoughts like hmm, maybe I should skim the flist! but then one thing happens and another thing and, next I know it, I'm coming back after a week to over 400 entries. ;;

So. Life bits.

SCHOOL; not taking summer class, at least not officially... my colleague who's teaching the Cultural Studies elective has allowed me to sit in on her sessions indefinitely, free of charge. [livejournal.com profile] khursten is with me, and now we keep flinching at words like 'commodification' and making stupid Marxist jokes that only we can get.

TEACHING; handling one Literature 14 class, and it's been pretty good so far. Kids are quiet but receptive, although I think they might still be intimidated by me. They all get this deer-in-headlights look whenever I throw a question at them.

Also: we need to seriously work on how to read poems properly. Their first group paper was a little... yeah.

RP; Flaking in and out. I need to find my groove again without compromising all of the other things that I need to do. ._. Getting better at it now, though, but... yeah. I know that I owe [livejournal.com profile] nique big time for not being around in Viva, or doing my Julia app. That's just one thing that I haven't been able to get to. orz

DRIVING; that's right, I'll be driving starting next week. Got the student permit and everything. THIS IS HOW MANY YEARS OVERDUE.

LIGHTS OUT; ...is in a week. Motherfucker.

WORLD OF DARKNESS; returned to my game with the usual suspects, which only made me want to write fanfic for our new party AND try and resurrect my own campaigns with my own set of players. I realize I have horrible luck with tabletop campaigns, see... my DMs disappear on me, for one reason or another.

That being said: IS ANYONE INTERESTED IN being my guinea pig JOINING A SESSION? D:

WRITING; Have started reconnecting, once again, with Endtimes, and it's working out so well. I've also kicked off a possible project with Mahar, which will have gratuitous amounts of gay and angst.

OTHER HOBBIES; got a heck load of files to sort out once I can sit still long enough. Schedule's pretty brutal, so I'm oftentimes too exhausted or brain dead to really want to do anything beyond stare at my PC screen and chat with people. I have started working through the comics I have on queue, though, along with the series I've been downloading. Current obsession: The Tudors. Rife with historical inaccuracies, I know, but. The costumes.

Cross Game was fabulous as well. Now I kind of want to pick up more of the mangaka's work and check them out, based on the recommendations I got~

So, flist, what did I miss?

IN B4 I CHECK EVERYTHING because if I checked everything first I'll likely crash before doing this properly, which'll mean waking up and checking everything first and delaying this entry further. o_o

/incoherent

A-anyway uh so like I mentioned a few entries back and then some, I flew off to Singapore on the 27th with Khursten ([livejournal.com profile] khursten), Yukeh ([livejournal.com profile] yukitsu) and Lyn ([livejournal.com profile] kye_kestrel). This was our first trip out as a group (and Yukeh's first trip abroad ever), and it was the most glorious adventure we've had together yet.

SORT OF DISCLAIMER: I'm extremely lazy unorganized, and I'm not too fond of doing a blow-by-blow account of things, so this entry will likely be the "abridged" version of our whole trip with lots of personal teal deer on my end. Shove off to the entries my buddies will make if you want something to, er, supplement this. XD

They will also have pictures, which means that their entries will totally top mine by default.

SHENANIGANS. )

So now I'm back in my house, showered, properly fed, practically dead on my feet but feeling the best I've had in a while. I've missed home and I've missed my family, although I don't particularly miss my country with Singapore still on the brain.

I'll be frank and say that Singapore, while lovely, was probably a place that I'd like to visit again, but not live in ever. It's... got this weird feel to it. This neither-here-nor-there, lack of "cultural" ground ambiance that sort of gets to you if you're sensitive to that sort of things. I mean, it's safe and secure and really fucking pretty, but it somehow feels empty for me.

Of course, that's all an observation on my part. Whether it's fair or not, I don't know.

Nevertheless, I made some good memories in Singapore, and it will always go down in my personal history as the first place I traveled to in the company of friends. I am also likely going to go back there very often in the future if the economy is kind to me, because I've got some real friends there that I definitely wouldn't mind seeing time and time again, from here until whenever.

/takes a deep breath

SO NOW THAT THAT IS DONE it's likely back to the regular routine. Still got a few days of sem break left to enjoy, although faculty duties are bound to kick in for me, especially with the new subjects I'll be teaching. There is also NaNoWriMo to consider, and that open RP post that I'm supposed to do for everybody.

May also need some time to figure out how to get rid of the Singlish twang. I-it's even corrupted the narrative voice in my head, as I rather rudely discovered when I attempted to read some of my books during the trip.

And I still want chicken rice. Like, lots of it.

Sooooo, flist, what did I miss? :D

EDIT: WHAT THE SHIT FLIST 520+ ENTRIES?!
Right, so. Yesterday was the first regular school day after the shitstorm that was Ondoy.

The atmosphere was rather... well. It wasn't great, but it wasn't entirely terrible. Still, it's rather haunting, going around and hearing people talk about nothing else but what happened, or occasionally spotting someone crying on someone else's shoulder. My students, for the most part, are okay - we talked long and much about exactly how the tragedy could have reached critical mass the way it did, along with a more regular concern: grades.

I've just spent most of my day checking all of their remaining requirements and computing for their class standing - it doesn't look like I'll be failing anyone this semester, and overall, everyone did stellar in my classes. Tomorrow will involve some negotiations on the parts of a few of my students, and I'll probably let them have their desired grade bumps if they can argue with me well enough.

On the grad studies end of things, I've still got a paper to write. Felt shitty over the past few weeks, so I really haven't been able to do it. Thankfully, I returned to my calm and happy place by rolling around and fixing all (yes, all) of my backlogged files and changing my icon sets, so I think I'm recharged enough to give it a shot. Tonight, perhaps.

Now let's talk internet things.

I blame my absence on my connection being a douchebag yet again, and house renovations. Things seem to be stable for the most part, though, and the best thing is...

MY ROOM IS FINALLY FINISHED!

Pictures to follow. I keep forgetting. ;;

Right, so~ went to Megamall on Thursday to meet up with [livejournal.com profile] 77ws, [livejournal.com profile] yukitsu, [livejournal.com profile] ficcentricity, [livejournal.com profile] menismastah and THE AMAZING MYTHICAL [livejournal.com profile] synatri. The plan was to eat at Saisaki for free, but we were cockblocked because everything was trufax expensive. THAT IS OKAY THOUGH BECAUSE THE CURRY PLACE WE WENT TO WAS AMAZING. ♥

The whole Koushien + Adzhu celebrated Yukeh's birthday the next day - we zipped over to the MoA area, where Yukeh treated us all out to the dampa.

There are no words to describe the Awesome of the food.

I don't think I'll be able to eat seafood the same way ever again. T^Tm

And of course, since it was my darling other half's birthday, I wrote her stuff.

Semi-frustrated that I wasn't able to write the whole weekend, but my wrist was being weird again. I guess it couldn't be avoided. orz

Will catch up once I'm sure that it's fine!

Not-so-randomly: one thing I really like about writing by request is that I feel it helps me grow. Makes me write stuff that I normally WOULDN'T write, and all.

Overall, it's never a hassle. I'm even happier when the ones who requested are happy with what I've written for them.

I've FINALLY caught up with One Piece. I can't say that I'm as impressed with it as I might have thought I'd be, but I suppose it was worth the read. I'm also making good time with Gintama, and that is always cool. |D

Now to reread Full Metal Alchemist and catch up on Kekkaishi.

Beyond the animu, I've also finally updated my icons on both relevant accounts and changed my Plurk layout to something so terribly not-worksafe, it's glorious. ♥

Little things like this make my world go 'round at the moment~

Currently in the office now, to catch up on downloads and do all of the other things that only a decent connection will allow me to do. I feel I've caught up with RP duties a little TOO quickly - I'm still waiting on a pending application, so I'm a little reluctant to start working on the apps of the other characters I've got planned. I don't have any hanging logs either (or more like, I've tagged them so I'm just waiting on the other party), so... yeah. o_o

As for things on the home front, I spent a good part of yesterday moving things out of my room. Dad has Big Plans for renovation, so I'll be living like a hobo until the construction and repainting finishes~

Oh. Now that Holy Week is over, I'm going to call PLDT and get that damned upgrade. More than a month of lol!internetz is time enough.
Saturday started off on a completely FAIL! note - I was supposed to wake up by 8 so that I could get out by 9 and meet up with [livejournal.com profile] yukitsu early for our girly session. Ended up waking up at 10:40, running around like a headless chicken and getting to Greenhills sometime before 12. orz

STILL, I GOT MY HAIRCUT. AND YUKEH HAS A LOT OF HAIR. \o/

[livejournal.com profile] botling, I have no pictures. Imma sorry? 8D?

Anyway, uh, after the haircut thing, we headed off to Glorietta and rolled around, plotting [livejournal.com profile] theskytides things until the rest of the gang ([livejournal.com profile] khursten, [livejournal.com profile] kye_kestrel, [livejournal.com profile] 77ws, [livejournal.com profile] lonelybusiness and [livejournal.com profile] ficcentricity) showed up. We ate a late lunch/somewhat dinner at Super Bowl before Monsters vs. Aliens, which was so full of stupid fun I think we all killed ourselves a little after it was finished.

I wanted to head off after that to [livejournal.com profile] laurgasm's birthday party to hook up with the old crowd, but I was pretty wiped out and my parents wanted me early for graduation things. SORRY, GIRLS! ;A; Let's meet up next time, okay?

Slept early as requested, which was A VERY GOOD THING because the graduation mass for my brother's batch was at fucking 7:30 AM (the homily was really nice, though, and the choir was kickass). We all headed home together (Peter wasn't interested in the batch breakfast) and lollygagged at the meal table with Italian bread, balsamic vinegar and olive oil. Great food is great. ;3;

Peter and I spent the rest of the afternoon marathoning Supernatural eps 14-16 (WRY DEAN WRY--) before parents hussled us out for the actual graduation ceremony, which was hellafuckinglong and pretty hard to cope with since the gym's not airconditioned and there were over 2,000 people in there. I shouldn't complain too much, though, since I was enjoying my book (McMafia, on globalization and the criminal world) and had a crapload of good ideas for ROI. I think I know how to situate the Vongola Family in an actual "real" framework now. o_o

Grad dinner was done over at Eastwood with the rest of the family + Peter's girlfriend. We got home at a decent time and I really, really intended to go to sleep except I didn't. orz I BLAME THIS ON YOU, [livejournal.com profile] theprerogative! B|

I'm chilling out at home in spite of the heat and the sucky connection because I need to archive my files (MY HARD DRIVE RAN OUT OF SPACE, WTF, THAT'S SUPPOSED TO BE UNPOSSIBLE). The sooner I archive, the sooner I can get to slicing and dicing at my backlog with a katana. Or something like that.

Since watching stuff is impossible, I'll prolly tag the people I owe tags to, read some manga, icon whore a bit more and maybe write some when it's not so hot. Might be in the office tomorrow for some more downloading, especially since I plan on going out anyway - I just submitted the final grades for my kids, so I'll have to swing by ADMU and pick up my paycheck.

Mom and Dad are really nice, though - they've given me a bit of money to tide me over for summer. I'll try and make it last for as long as possible, so that I don't withdraw anything else. I don't get paid if I'm not teaching, see. B|

Am contemplating finishing Return on Investment, Bloodsport, my [livejournal.com profile] khrminibang project and the full timeline (plus other things) for Endtimes this summer. I don't want to say that I will or make any guarantees because I need to chillax as much as possible, but the intention is there.

That leads me to the somewhat real purpose of this entry: who else is interested in the full timeline? I mentioned it in my last entry. I'm making a filter, so it's kinda important that I know so that I don't end up polluting your flists with my spazz. XD

--Which reminds me. I should start fixing my blog over on Wordpess and maybe toss in all my academic papers in the academic filter I have down here.
Academic stuff is officially finished - I gunned all of the paper submissions from both my English classes in one go, and checked the last exam. I'll double check the grading, and I've got a meeting tomorrow, and I have to submit my papers for srs, but otherwise, I'm clear.

Seriously, this is a big relief. Little breakdowns have been taking their toll on me lately, but I think I can finally unwind.

On related news, my students are adorable. My Lit13 class sent me off with an illustration board full of dedications, and a NO SMOKING! sign pasted on the back. I was honestly touched by that. ;_;

Agenda for lollygagging is as follows:

  • CLEAR BACKLOG. MASSIVE BACKLOG EVERYWHERE. MANGA, MOVIES, ANIMU... JUST, EVERYWHERE.
  • Get hands-on with the RPs. WTF, SELF, DRAWING UP LISTS OF PEOPLE TO APP.
  • FIX ICONS AND FUSS OVER LJs.
  • WRITE.
  • SLEEP.
  • WRITE MOAR.

The downloads might be a little hard to do... connection is still sucky down at home, although we are trying to find a way to solve this. I'll probably be rolling around in my dad's office a lot this summer, to abuse the connection. o_o

Also, results from the latest meme that I posted were incredibly lulzy. Apparently, people think that I should RP characters that have any of the following, in whatever combination:

  • Big tits.
  • Bitchy tendencies.
  • Brains.
  • A Ginormous Gar Factor.
  • Sinister tendencies.
  • Secretly pedo sides.
  • Major hohobag habits.

Also, [livejournal.com profile] 77ws: I still seriously hate you. :|

Relevant to pimping interests:

FIC DUMPING TIME. ♥

Katekyo Hitman Reborn, RP-verses, Dogs Bullets & Carnage, Soul Eater, Loveless )

I'll finally get cracking on my backlog, with luck. there are more birthdays coming up, I believe.

By the way, guys, I need to know:

I'm working on the full timeline for Endtimes again, and making remarkable time with it. Who would be interested in the full version when it's finished, or in receiving updates as I go along?
To kick things off, have a conversation I took from plurk:

[livejournal.com profile] izkariote: HARK.
[livejournal.com profile] izkariote: TIS MY BRAIN IN A BOWL.
[livejournal.com profile] izkariote: BEHOLD.
[livejournal.com profile] izkariote: IT IS MUSHY.
[livejournal.com profile] factorielle: ...You worry me.

--Because that pretty much sums up how last week was for me. Spent most of my time ficcing and attending to some faculty things, but mostly ficcing because March is the month of GAR and fic-dumping, since several of my good friends celebrate their birthdays this time around and like hell I'm going to let them go without getting a gift from me, even if it's fail.

This also means that I ought to kick myself into shape again and pound out the long overdue fics that I owe other people who celebrated their birthdays while I was busy. I'll be free very soon, so it shouldn't be a problem.

ANYWAY SO. This weekend was pretty insane~ [livejournal.com profile] khursten, [livejournal.com profile] yukitsu and I met with Tricia, who is this uber cool Pinay doing research on the local yaoi community for her scholarship grant in Osaka. It was a night of Lights Out Talk and wonderful conversation AND OMFG D18 DOUJIN BECAUSE SHE IS AWESOME AND MANAGED TO SECURE THREE BEAUTIFUL TITLES FOR ME ASDLKGHK;AHSDGH;ASHDKLGH;LAHSDLKH;GHASDHG-- *brainsplode*

Um. Anyway. Yeah. Bottom line is, she's a great person, aaaaand I have more Peeco and Banyuu in my collection. |D

Attended class on Saturday before meeting up with [livejournal.com profile] khursten again, for her birthday celebration - [livejournal.com profile] yukitsu was with her, and we zipped over to Binondo for food tripping with [livejournal.com profile] kye_kestrel, [livejournal.com profile] ficcentricity [livejournal.com profile] yue_dermond and [livejournal.com profile] 77ws. We went over to her house after we finished up, where I watched some Gintama, broke Lynffles' brain with one of my critical readings, oggled my doujinshi yet again and rolled around until around two in the morning.

Was supposed to get home in time to celebrate Mass with my dad, since it's his birthday today, but I didn't make it - thankfully, my parents were okay with it. I just have to make sure not to do it again. Am upstairs now and finally done with most of my internet backlog.

Doctor's appointment tomorrow and on Tuesday. Beyond that, I've got to finish birthday fics for [livejournal.com profile] theprerogative and [livejournal.com profile] botling and teacherly things for my children. Might chill out a little longer, though, since I'm still kinda "bwuh" after being out for pretty much the whole weekend.

On other awesomeness, I was accepted into Amat. This makes me ridiculously happy, but also terribly worried. o_o

FIC DUMPING TIME. ♥

KHR: Return on Investment, Devil Summoner, Persona 3, Persona 4, Reborn!, Gintama, One Piece, Eureka7, Bounen no Xamdou, Metal Gear Solid, Kekkaishi. )

L-lots of fics. *shamefaced*

On other news: HELLO TO THE NEW PEOPLE ON MY FLIST. ...Hello, at least, to the ones I know and the ones I don't who bothered to comment on my F-O Post. orz Please comment there if you want me to add you back, guys. :|
