Huhu, crammed the last two days into one entry. HEAD'S UP FOR MORE IMAGES~~~

Parts I and II are here and here, btw!

Day Three (May 31). )
izkariote: (zen.)
( Jun. 2nd, 2010 01:47 pm)
For those of you who didn't know, I just spent the last four days in Coron, Palawan.

Took lots of pics and wrote a lot, so I'll be splitting the entries up to save everyone's browsers. orz

May 29 to June 1. )

Part Two is over here!
izkariote: (zen.)

IN B4 I CHECK EVERYTHING because if I checked everything first I'll likely crash before doing this properly, which'll mean waking up and checking everything first and delaying this entry further. o_o

/incoherent

A-anyway uh so like I mentioned a few entries back and then some, I flew off to Singapore on the 27th with Khursten ([livejournal.com profile] khursten), Yukeh ([livejournal.com profile] yukitsu) and Lyn ([livejournal.com profile] kye_kestrel). This was our first trip out as a group (and Yukeh's first trip abroad ever), and it was the most glorious adventure we've had together yet.

SORT OF DISCLAIMER: I'm extremely lazy unorganized, and I'm not too fond of doing a blow-by-blow account of things, so this entry will likely be the "abridged" version of our whole trip with lots of personal teal deer on my end. Shove off to the entries my buddies will make if you want something to, er, supplement this. XD

They will also have pictures, which means that their entries will totally top mine by default.

SHENANIGANS. )

So now I'm back in my house, showered, properly fed, practically dead on my feet but feeling the best I've had in a while. I've missed home and I've missed my family, although I don't particularly miss my country with Singapore still on the brain.

I'll be frank and say that Singapore, while lovely, was probably a place that I'd like to visit again, but not live in ever. It's... got this weird feel to it. This neither-here-nor-there, lack of "cultural" ground ambiance that sort of gets to you if you're sensitive to that sort of things. I mean, it's safe and secure and really fucking pretty, but it somehow feels empty for me.

Of course, that's all an observation on my part. Whether it's fair or not, I don't know.

Nevertheless, I made some good memories in Singapore, and it will always go down in my personal history as the first place I traveled to in the company of friends. I am also likely going to go back there very often in the future if the economy is kind to me, because I've got some real friends there that I definitely wouldn't mind seeing time and time again, from here until whenever.

/takes a deep breath

SO NOW THAT THAT IS DONE it's likely back to the regular routine. Still got a few days of sem break left to enjoy, although faculty duties are bound to kick in for me, especially with the new subjects I'll be teaching. There is also NaNoWriMo to consider, and that open RP post that I'm supposed to do for everybody.

May also need some time to figure out how to get rid of the Singlish twang. I-it's even corrupted the narrative voice in my head, as I rather rudely discovered when I attempted to read some of my books during the trip.

And I still want chicken rice. Like, lots of it.

Sooooo, flist, what did I miss? :D

EDIT: WHAT THE SHIT FLIST 520+ ENTRIES?!

So the Punzalan clan dragged itself out of Metro Manila over the weekend in order to attend my brother Petrik's wedding celebration to his wife, Yas. They've already been civilly married for the past five years now, but you know how it goes with us Catholics: it's the Church wedding that seems to mean so much more.

OMG, IT'S A TEAL DEER! )

I woke up to my dad telling me that the internet connection was apparently back to its usual speed - testing it out downstairs verified this, but I went with him to the office anyway because I figured that it could be a serious fluke.

Apologies to those I didn't tag or talk to the whole day today: I was hacking away at my fic backlog, with moderate success. Dump's in the last part of this post, for the interested. ♥

The internet connection was down when I got home, as predicted - it only came around maybe an hour or so ago, and it seems slow again. I'll be staying home tomorrow because the PLDT folks are scheduled to come here and rig us up with a new plan.

Also: seriously considering dropping some RPs sometime soon. I'm also lazy to fix the app that I sent in since it's in need of some minor revisions... I'll prolly get to it once I've cleared out more of my writing backlog.

Head's up to [livejournal.com profile] rainy_takako and [livejournal.com profile] mlina for this set. I'll be working on things for [livejournal.com profile] akaru_hana, [livejournal.com profile] yukitsu and maybe [livejournal.com profile] redmoonmurder and [livejournal.com profile] mlina again for the rest of the week.

And now, ficcage! )
Holy Week is always interesting, for a number of reasons.

This year was no exception.

Semi-frustrated that I wasn't able to write the whole weekend, but my wrist was being weird again. I guess it couldn't be avoided. orz

Will catch up once I'm sure that it's fine!

Not-so-randomly: one thing I really like about writing by request is that I feel it helps me grow. Makes me write stuff that I normally WOULDN'T write, and all.

Overall, it's never a hassle. I'm even happier when the ones who requested are happy with what I've written for them.

I've FINALLY caught up with One Piece. I can't say that I'm as impressed with it as I might have thought I'd be, but I suppose it was worth the read. I'm also making good time with Gintama, and that is always cool. |D

Now to reread Full Metal Alchemist and catch up on Kekkaishi.

Beyond the animu, I've also finally updated my icons on both relevant accounts and changed my Plurk layout to something so terribly not-worksafe, it's glorious. ♥

Little things like this make my world go 'round at the moment~

Currently in the office now, to catch up on downloads and do all of the other things that only a decent connection will allow me to do. I feel I've caught up with RP duties a little TOO quickly - I'm still waiting on a pending application, so I'm a little reluctant to start working on the apps of the other characters I've got planned. I don't have any hanging logs either (or more like, I've tagged them so I'm just waiting on the other party), so... yeah. o_o

As for things on the home front, I spent a good part of yesterday moving things out of my room. Dad has Big Plans for renovation, so I'll be living like a hobo until the construction and repainting finishes~

Oh. Now that Holy Week is over, I'm going to call PLDT and get that damned upgrade. More than a month of lol!internetz is time enough.

I really meant to post sooner, but some little earthquakes on the personal front and a hell lot of work-related things kept me away from doing much of anything beyond dealing. I don't really feel the need to talk about the shistorms (those who need to know already do, and the rest of you really don't have to), so let's just go straight to what I've been up to.

Taboan 2009 looked like it was a huge success, from what little I got to see of it... Ateneo hosted the second day of the festival, as part of the merrymaking for the university's 150th year in service. I was pretty much all over the place because of the things they assigned me to do (logistics, ushering, tech support and documentation) but overall, I had a really great time. I also know how to use a video cam properly because of the exercise, so, if for anything, I learned something new?

I'd talk more about the ideas that were tossed back and forth during the conference panels themselves, but any of the epiphanies I had are pretty much out of my head right now. orz Crunch time, yo.

Crashed on Friday, so I pretty much huddled up alone at home and did random internet things beyond study for my class. Saturday was lovely - the group assigned to report on the readings were excellent. [livejournal.com profile] yukitsu met up with me after class and helped me check papers. Everything that needed to be graded HAS been graded now as a result. ♥ Had dinner out, met with [livejournal.com profile] anothermiyaw after, and generally had a wonderful Saturday.

Today has been extra productive as well - I finished three response papers out of the five that I intend to submit and the readings that I will be reporting on this coming Saturday. It's the lit conference for the senior lit majors in ADMU, and I'll be moderating the panels - this means that I can generally take it easy for the evening. If I'm still in this productive funk, though, I'll prolly start preparing for that report, or maybe get started on the fourth response paper. o_o

Now, for internet news. I made a musebox for myself over at [livejournal.com profile] yescomrade - if you're a friend, join it. If you're an partner-in-crime in any of my RPs, join it. If you're curious and you feel like tagging with me, join it. I'm willing to swing just about anything. ♥ Also, [livejournal.com profile] botling made [livejournal.com profile] pavlovsyaoi, which is the musebox that we share... it currently features our alternate universe in KHR where Hibari was found by Byakuran first. SHOW US YOUR LOVE AND WATCH US FLAIL.

Ignore the rest of this post. It's all shameless pimpage.

FIC DUMP, GET!

Katekyo Hitman Reborn: Return on Investment (Chapter 6). --> Where Yamamoto and Hibari walk around Palawan and strange stuff happens.

Musebox for the KHR-verse: Kaoko Hibari. Because a violent kid like Kyouya has to have come from somewhere!

Birthday Fic: 691827. For [livejournal.com profile] kasugai_gummie. Three men, one bathtub!

Porn-off Night Fics: Darker than Black, Code Geass. My fail. Nuff said.

Serious Business
Publishing is Srs Bzns
Premise
There's something very, very odd about the publishing industry down in Japan, and, in particular, a rather influential city named Namimori - everyone who's dipped their foot into that particular pond would know. At this moment, there are three major companies of interest locked in this game: Vongola & Associates, Millefiore & Company and the Varia.

The recent economic crisis have forced the heads of these respective companies to do an almost total restructure, with mass promotions, lay-offs (or hiring, depending on who you are) and other scary things to note. Overall, they're all slightly bigger, slightly better organized, and more than ready to play.

Publishing may be a game, but it's a damned serious one, with the fate of good reading and the people who seek to churn it out to the masses at stake.

Welcome to our world, ladies and gentlemen.

Yes.

It's fucking serious business.

This entry is LONG OVERDUE, but I've spent the last few days drowning in paperwork -- this was something that I did on purpose, as I wanted to make sure that I did all my teacherly stuff before the actual break. That way, I'd be free to party slack off be productive in other, less academic areas of my life throughout the Christmas season. I CAN HAPPILY COLLAPSE IN A CORNER SOMEWHERE NOW THAT EVERYTHING IS DONE! \o/

Srsly, though, this Responsible Adult thing? Sometimes I want to kick myself in the head for it. I might work myself straight to the coffin at this rate. Somebody needs to tell me when to slow down. *fail*

[livejournal.com profile] kye_kestrel had her birthday celebration last Saturday over at Powerplant; [livejournal.com profile] anothermiyaw hitched a ride with me from Katipunan, after my Texts and Textuality Class. Traffic was bad, so we kinda ended up shooting the breeze for the good hour that we spent swimming through a sea of cars. Met up with the boss and [livejournal.com profile] yukitsu once we got there: everyone else - [livejournal.com profile] khrusten, [livejournal.com profile] 77ws, [livejournal.com profile] ficcentricity and [livejournal.com profile] lonelybusiness who is fail because she thought we were meeting up in Glorietta - arrived later. Cue dinner shenanigans. Cue crazy gifts. KRISTEL, UNDERSTAND THE CHAOS YOU BROUGHT DOWN UPON ALL OF US WITH THOSE GIFTS. B|

Spent the next few days after that Drowning in Papers whenever I was home and doing school shenanigans whenever I was in Ateneo. Finally managed to finish up everything sometime last night, and today was light and easy. Had my first Christmas party with the English Department. That was pretty much an awesome way to kick off my break. ♥

Goals That Will Probably Not Be Met For Christmas Break 2008:
* Work on my pitch to Image Comics. I'm planning on pitching Endtimes. *crosses fingers*
* BOND WITH MY PS2. ASDK;LHG;LAHSDGHADSG TOO MANY PEOPLE POSTING ABOUT PERSONA 4.
* BOND WITH MY PSP. I'VE ONLY BEEN USING IT FOR MUSIC. orz
* Catch up with my backlogged anime, manga, movies and TV series. The list keeps growing, whut.
* Catch up with all the books I've bought but haven't even really cracked open.
* Sort all those images. I HAD A GOOD START.
* Fix my game plan for the rest of the semester with my kids.
* Write more Return on Investment after I've finished all my Christmas gift fics.

Now that I've mentioned it, I should be posting some of the gift fics that I managed to finish before work came rolling in. In the meantime, I'm pimping out the fics that I wrote for [livejournal.com profile] kye_kestrel - I did my usual ## number of drabbles = to celebrant's age thing for her~

My thirteenth month pay thingie came in last week, and Mom just put it on time deposit - this means a huge rate of return in terms of interest every month. This suddenly makes some plans that I had for 2009 very feasible, so I've decided to go for a major Poverty Plan to make sure that I achieve them at the projected dates.

Here's hoping that I make it.

It's so hard to drag myself to post on LJ these days... Plurk suits my hours a lot more, given the way I've been running around like a headless chicken, balancing RP stuff and school and the little things I do to keep myself sane. ANYWAY, LIFE UPDATES. ~~~/o/

Last week was quite pleasant, even though nothing out of the ordinary happened: consultation for my En11 classes continued, and my kids in Lit13 were basically running the class in my stead with their group reports. Overall, minimal preparation was required on my end, so that gave me a lot of time to freak out over my grad studies requirements.

Thursday was an awesome day for both me and the rest of ADMU: our college boys' basketball team won the championship for the 71st season of the UAAP, and I finished all 15 pages of my final paper in Development of Fiction while everyone else was either at the game, watching it, or watching other people watch it and plurk on it. XD

My Mishima Report last Saturday was a big success~ Sir DM made it a point to congratulate me and say that I did a lovely job. I feel greatly affirmed. ♥ NOW, REBORN! PAPER. HERE I COME.

Saturday was also lovely because I went to Trinoma to hook up with [livejournal.com profile] verjill, who was celebrating her birthday. [livejournal.com profile] sortinghatlover and [livejournal.com profile] magnetic_rose where also there, along with some other lovely people who I really, really enjoyed talking to. Jill, bb, can you do me a favor and direct me towards their Plurk accounts/LJs? And let them know that I want to bugger them online! \o/

Most of yesterday was eaten up by my mother's oath-taking over at the Manila Hotel... she's just received her license to practice as a certified guidance counselor, so that's some kind of awesome. Pros of the oath-taking ceremony include air-conditioned room and me getting to dress up pretty. Cons include bad food, stiff strangers at the table I was in, LONG-ASS SPEECHES and this senile old lady who kept insisting that everybody sing along with her to this terribly Filipinized version of "If We Hold On Together" not just once, but three fucking times.

The after-grad party we had with Mom was awesome though. We ate at Grappas. THEIR BEER, I WANT MORE OF IT.

SO THAT'S MY RECAP. The week's just begun, but things are looking up. There's still that tiny me running around in the back of my head, screaming at me to BE FUCKING PRODUCTIVE!, but for serious, I'm already in Sem Break Mode.

I'm supposed to fangirl like the shit over all the stuff I've been watching lately over here, but I think I drained all of it out on Plurk. INSTEAD, here's the list of shit I need to do once school is out:
-Finish checking student papers.
-Play Playstation 2. And PSP games.
-SORT ALL OF THOSE IMAGES, DAMN IT.
-Review icon collection. Delete what you can.
-GO THROUGH NEW ICON LINKS.
-Fix your Firefox bookmarks.
-WRITE AND PLOT AND YAY!
-Brainstorm for future academic paper topics.
-Do your critique of the Spec Fic Movement, and all shenanigans related to that issue.
-Marathon all the backlogged stuff on your hard drive.
-Catch up on RPlurk archives. T-there are so many of them again. D:

Will probably work on my paper tomorrow, if laziness doesn't get the better of me. I am also seriously looking forward to Wednesday, and to this weekend!
