I started Empire of Ivory (fourth book in the Temeraire series) yesterday, sometime before [livejournal.com profile] yukitsu swung by to hang around and generally do nothing -- ended up reading well past 2 in the morning, and just finished it now after lunch.

some thoughts. Spoilerific, sort of? )

2008 is going to be an exceptionally good year for video games, anime and books, from the looks of it. Book 5 of the Temeraire series is due, along with Persona: Trinity Soul on the anime end and Baroque, another game by Atlus. Wii users, you will be happy to note that Baroque will have a Wii version.

So anyway, yesterday was extremely fun and relaxing: Yukeh and I were supposed to go to Makati that afternoon, but her college buddies ended up canceling. We opted to stay at home instead, where I packed in a few more good hours with Devil Summoner in between plotting bits and pieces for Bloodsport. Now I have this day to rest and catch up on more of the anime episodes that I've let accumulate over the past few days. This might just be my only time to do it, because:

December 31 - Arrival of my Dave Mason, my brother Pio's childhood friend from Vancouver + Peralejo New Year's Party, in which the whole clan will be present. Again.
January 1 - Arrival of my brother Philip from Toronto, along with his family.
January 2 - Something is bound to come up, so I'm putting it here anyway.
January 3 & 4 - BAGUIO.
January 5 - Wedding.
January 6 - Hustling home, prolly tired as hell and glad to miss out on the Barrion family reunion, because an occasion that bit really ought not to be annual but you didn't read that from me.
January 7 - SKUEL ONOZ.

Been posting a lot about my family as of late. It's no wonder my LJ is suddenly Googleable if people need to find us.

On another note, does anyone know whether you can get rid of that stupid Writer's Block section on your LJ interface? The retardedness of the questions is starting to get on my nerves. >_>

[EDIT @ 4:42] OMFG MACROSS FRONTIER EPISODE 1 WAS JUST SDL;GHOEIHOQGROH;SADGLHOAHB FRAKKING BEAUTIFUL. *incoherence!
I quite literally rolled out of bed, into the first (pretty) things I pulled out of my closet and tumbled into the car this morning in order to join my Mom, my brother Pio (the one getting married) and my Tito Lorrie and Tita Faye on a trip to Shangri-La for some last minute shopping and family bonding tiemz. Cue much Peralejo-Punzalan dorkiness, customary Ribbing the Soon-to-be Groom and walk walk walking all over the mall.

Spoils of holiday parental financial abuse include:

Topshop Clothes (YAY PINSTRIPES! YAY VEST! YAY GRAY PANTS!)
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner - Raido Kuzunoha and the Soulless Army *insert Fangirl Shriek of Happiness Here*

Oh, and I ran into [livejournal.com profile] girl_blunder and my cousin [livejournal.com profile] xianu. Sorry, sweetie... I didn't have my and [livejournal.com profile] yukitsu's gift to j00! ;A;

Got hoem early enough to try out the game (I called my character Hikaru Shinta. ...Yeah, bite me.) before the Christmas Eve Mass which had a repetitive but otherwise decent homily and an unbearably slow Our Father song. Family loitered around in the living room afterward before we did the usual Advent Wreath prayer stuff. Then we got to attack the Potato Salad, pandesal and Christmas Ham.

I received a surprising number of gifts, and much love to all the people who gave them to me. Oh, and mom apparently bought me even more stuff before the Shangri-La trip just so that I'll have things to open. ...I love my Mom. .__.

Peralejo Christmas lunch tomorrow, with a whole bunch of relatives who haven't been back in the Philippines for years. It'll be a busy holiday season, I believe, but I have no regrets.

HAPPY CHRISTMAS, ALL. *BIG INTARWEBZ HUGS*
So. Uh. Yeah. I was a bit frazzled but otherwise fine on Monday, but "fine" became Sick as a Dog in the evening. Ended up skipping work yesterday to play Odin Sphere because Oswald and Velvet are so damned hot rest up, and I'm feeling slightly better now. Thankfully, the Theology tests I took were not nearly as difficult as I had feared they would be.

One problem, though: I apparently have ear and sinus infections because of the "cold". Yay for antibiotics and anti-allergy stuff. Yay for Christmas viruses. @_@

I dunno whether I'll be working tomorrow -- I'm still feeling under the weather, and all the paint jobs at home aren't exactly helping. I wasn't online from Monday evening all the way until now because they had to disconnect everything and let the people do their job, so I'm bracing myself for all the catching up I have to do. Intarwebz life can be scary.

Right. And now, a rant on video games, video game companies, and gamers in general.

LOLLERSKATES. )

The above rant is prolly the result of me hearing way too much the gamers on the local scene, and me being tired of defending my points because none of them ever listen. They're always "OH YOU'RE JUST SAYING THAT BECAUSE YOU'RE A SQUEENIX FAN!" which, I believe, is NOT the frakking point. I'd like to think I'm being pretty logical here. Let me demonstrate:

Pammeth is a gamer. Therefore, Pammeth likes good games.
Squeenix usually puts out good games. Therefore, Pammeth likes Squeenix.

Substitute "Squeenix" with names like "Konami" and "Atlus", and I think you can see where I'm coming from here.

I'd say it's the meds that make me that cranky, but I'm not taking them yet, so I guess I don't really have an excuse.

I tagged along with [livejournal.com profile] yukitsu to the 50th Anniversary celebration of the Philippine PEN Foundation~ the driver had to get some teeth pulled out, so I commuted from my house all the way to Manila. ROAD TRIP FTW!

Since we got to the place at lunch time, we only managed to attend one talk. Ma'am Hidalgo was my favorite one on the panel, I think... to be honest, it's a bit hard for me to swallow talks revolving around literature and nationhood. Yes, it's a valid issue and all and yes I know that there's something wrong with the system, but I'd rather hear about how to instill these changes. It would also be nice if writers actually bothered to put an ear towards the youth, yeah?

Talking about the problem and making a checklist of "shoulds" and "should nots" is one thing. Actually DOING rather than dictating is quite another, I think.

'Kay. Bookworm mode ends there.

Slept REALLY late because of Odin Sphere (note this post), and woke up at 10:30. Lolled about for a while before the parentals dragged us kids out of the house for the customary annual clan reunion at the Good Shepherd Convent (where I proceeded to talk about life, college, high school and Persona 3 with my cousins). Will be attending Mass in a bit, so I'm going through BL manga. Again.

In spite of my frigging faulty internet connection, MY 53 GB HENTAI DOWNLOAD IS NEARLY DONE, YAY.

I can't believe it's already December. [livejournal.com profile] khursten, [livejournal.com profile] psychoshoujo, [livejournal.com profile] yukitsu: we're still on for Avenue Q, right?
ODIN SPHERE IS EATING MY BRAIN.

*points* LOOK AT THAT ICON. WITH CHARACTERS LIKE THAT, HOW CAN YOU GO WRONG????

D: D: D:

...More coherent post in the morning.

...I'm hee-hoing.

DAMN IT, [livejournal.com profile] sindapa, THIS IS YOUR FAULT.

Er. So right now I'm in the office, downloading pr0n Wordpress themes. I managed to set up the portal for the company website (pathetic-looking, I know), so now I'm just gathering all the files I need and mulling over how I'm going to build everything else. I'm seriously considering using the Wordpress CMS as my backend for... well, just about everything. It seems a whole lot more appealing than HTMLing my ass off. It's been too long since I've touched codes, and the easier the interface, the happier I'll be.

Yesterday was Cut Class All Day and Do Org Stuff Day. Spread AWKWARD TURTLES! love to all the Litsoc people manning the book sale, and hung out with [livejournal.com profile] yukitsu. Wasn't able to put in any Odin Sphere tiem because I had to gun around 18 readings for Theology class. Turns out I'll have a long test soon.

Peter was tipsy the other night and insisted on sitting in the back with me -- I won't explain how, but let's just say that my ear got caught by the snapping handles of my plastic case and verily ripped my right earring off. So I'm earring-less again, and not very happy about it. ALL THAT EFFORT GOING NOWHERE.

Lesson learned: Bap Baby Brother next time he drinks on a school night.

Hur hur. Formations meet tomorrow, along with a quiz in Theo. Saturday will quite possibly be eaten up by Read or Die duties, which leaves Sunday for bumming. I'm sort of in limbo because my thesis is finished (for the moment), and I'm hoping to get some writing done. As I've told [livejournal.com profile] yukitsu and a few others, I can no longer churn out page after page of shit then go "OMG LOOKIT WORLD I WROTEZ SOMETHINGZ!" in good faith. It's not so much the feedback I dread, but the very idea of me putting out something that just doesn't match up. Then there's the fact that I just don't seem to have the time to really sit down and write because of school and other RL things.

Then there's the sheer number of projects I've accumulated, and am actually considering doing. After spending nearly every free moment I had writing in my first and second years, I devoted my third through fifth years of college to RL duties/reading. And you know how writers just absorb ideas and inspiration wherever they may find it. It's both thrilling and frustrating to have all this stuff stocked up and have no way of really channeling it out because there's simply no means to do so yet.

...Oh, the agony of writing. At least I've gotten much better. I think. x_X

That reminds me. I really ought to fix up the next chapters of my India submission. I haven't been able to focus on it at all for more than a few months now. Shoutout to [livejournal.com profile] redplasticglass and [livejournal.com profile] subdivided: I am so sorry I haven't been in touch and all. >_

35050 / 73122 words. 48% done!

Am definitely NaNoWriMo-ing again tonight. I've got a lot of backlogged anime and all, but that can always wait. Besides, there's music to sort. <_>

Btw, my username on the website is izkariote. Creative, I know. Plz to be adding?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My last registration day as an undergraduate (barring any sudden catastrophic event, anyway) was surreal because it's the fastest one I've ever had as an Atenean. It's also the one that yielded the prettiest schedule.

Cut for the large picture and Registration Day-related rambles. )

I'm sure a few of you guys have heard this from me before, but Persona 3 is one of the most dangerous games I've played -- the last time I fangirled this bad, I was on Kingdom Hearts II. >_> Just about everything in P3 is exceptionally lovely: the Social Links system, the Persona creation, the story, the music, the characters, the fanficability, the slash factor (with a dash of lezzie lovin')... yep. Just about everything. x_X

On Persona 3 & the general creepiness of Atlus RPGs. )

It was my parents' wedding anniversary the other day. They've been married for thirty-four years now. Crazy, huh?

[EDIT] And here's the meme that every fan worth his or her salt should answer.
Before all else:

R.I.P. Asami Tohjoh
You weren't the best BL mangaka I've read, but I'd be a liar if I said that I didn't love some of your work. And any writer who spreads the love has a special place in my heart.

Refer to this post if you want to know some of the details.

Spent the whole day fixing all the images and LJ icons on my computer... I've got about a year's worth of backlog from a whole bunch of sources. The fact that my internet connection is fucking up didn't help the speed much either. .-.

I took advantage of the plus account features and set up icons in the new slots that popped up. [livejournal.com profile] yukitsu, if it's not too much trouble, can you help me track down who and where to credit for some of these. o_o I changed the ones on [livejournal.com profile] stitchedophelia too.

On more LJ stuff. here's the link to the gallery of potential header images that I promised to show to [livejournal.com profile] macgirl_13 in my last post. I'd really, really like a header whose width spans 770px or more to match the way my new layout's been coded. @_@ I can take care of the rest (aka coloring et al).

Baguio tomorrow all the way until Sunday evening. I've packed all the important stuff... I'll be bringing Aidan and Persona 3 along to see if I can get anything done at the country club.

NaNoWriMo starts today, and I still haven't figured out what I want to write. =_=

[EDIT]: new drabbles @ stitchedophelia. I didn't bother with a pimpage post because there are only three of them. THIS POST HAS MY FIRST P3 FIC EVAR! D:
