NEW LAYOUT! NEW PROFILE!

O Hibachuu: y so moe? X3

I think it's safe to say that my "vacation" officially started yesterday; skipped out on my niece's birthday because I was feeling reclusive, and although I really should've dropped in, I don't want to say that I regret it in the least. From the looks of it, I seriously need some Me Time.

Sunday was pretty uneventful: today was the exact opposite. Slept late due to plotting shenanigans with [livejournal.com profile] khursten (D18 Kink is Serious Kink, okay!), and ended up getting jostled awake by my mom at 9:45 AM -- exactly 15 minutes past the time that we were supposed to leave for the hospital. I pretty much stumbled out of bed and "bwuh?"-ed my way through the waiting and through the appointment.

Thyroid Dramu Update: latest scans show I'm clear, but my doctor is, of course, still adamant on me getting the operation. She's not pushy, though, which is cool; she even suggested several sites that I can browse regarding alternative methods of treatment, just in case I really don't want to do the whole Cut Myself Open And Sing While They Take My Thyroid Gland Out thing. She mentioned the fact that the papillary could easily spread to my lungs, which, of course, is important to me given the fact that I smoke. Still ambivalent towards quitting the habit though -- I enjoy it too much, and as I've told many of my friends, smoking has done more than just given me a form of stress relief.

Went off to ADMU after that because I really need my last paycheck for the semester and my Mom kinda wanted to see my cubicle (which she did, along with meeting some of my colleagues). I'll have to go back on Wednesday to see if the Department secretaries are finally available.

Managed to snag some R&R time at home before heading off to Makati to meet with [livejournal.com profile] lonelybusiness, [livejournal.com profile] ficcentricity, [livejournal.com profile] yukitsu, [livejournal.com profile] 77ws, [livejournal.com profile] kye_kestrel and [livejournal.com profile] khursten. AWESOME CHOCOLATE COMA CAKE IS AWESOME. *staaaaaaares at [livejournal.com profile] factorielle* 8D

Lemme do some quick and brutal updates on why I've been so out of it and what's in store for me in the next semester.

  • I spent pretty much all of last week checking the crapload of student works and exams that I've accumulated since the end of August -- that ought to explain why I've only been visible on Plurk and y!m rather than LJ. I'm still reeling from all that text, so you'll have to excuse me if I fail at anything that has to do with writing and archiving for a bit. +_+
  • I am not kidding when I say that I won't have a semestral break -- I might even be digging my own grave by forcing myself to take this week off. I have lesson plans to make and preparations to do regarding the graduate studies units that I need to take up this coming semester. I've also got duties to fulfill for the committees that I'm in over at the faculty (i.e. editing scholarly journals, fixing the formatting on some literary criticism papers, canvassing for potential text books). orz Teaching is serious business, yo.
  • The papers I was referring to in this post are for classes that I'm still waiting for word about, so I really don't want to post them until I'm sure that they didn't suck. Something tells me that I'm going to end up posting them anyway, given the fact that some of you guys are breathing down my neck about reading them. *crai* I might contact some scholars and professors abroad about reviewing them, depending on the results.

Now, about fandom life. I have but one thing to say: I HAVEN'T BEEN UNPRODUCTIVE, JUST PRODUCTIVE IN THE WRONG WAYS! My logs over at [livejournal.com profile] reborn_biz can testify to that, along with the fact that I have been making headway with my animu and icon backlog. Natsume Yuujinchou made me wibble lots, and Bounen no Xam'dou totally fucking OWNS me. If you haven't seen those series yet, I DEMAND THAT YOU WATCH THEM NOW.

Also, I've said it once and I'll say it again: I HATE YOU ALL FOR MAKING ME ITCH TO FANFIC. I NEED MY TIME FOR OTHER USELESS THINGS, OKAY. But expect ficcing soon. I WILL WRITE WITH MY DYING WILL.

[livejournal.com profile] redmoonmurder, please poke me regarding mod shenanigans. I will be home tomorrow, so you can whip me into working if it pleases you. ♥

NaNoWriMo in ten days.

I, uh, kinda want to shoot myself.

On the other hand, Return on Investment, here I come, bb. TIME TO SHOW SOME OF THOSE BITCHES HOW TO DO THE KHR ORGY RIGHT, DAMN IT. *coughcoughFlamesandFamilycough*

No music just yet because I'm really, REALLY lazy about making the link-ups and writing the blurbs, BUT I BRING WRITING? Just to show that I haven't been completely useless. ~_~

SO THERE. PLURK ISN'T THE ONLY THING I DO ON MY PC THESE DAYS OKEY.

Since I didn't get to post about Thursday due to my need to show off this blathering idiot (who, by the way, never replied), I'll explain it here: that was the death anniversary of Lolo Peralejo, and even though I was supposed to have attended this Read or Die meeting thing with [livejournal.com profile] yukitsu and [livejournal.com profile] lonelybusiness, I guess he really wanted me to come around and join the family because the meeting was canceled and stuff. Anyway, it was good because I managed to talk with relatives whom I haven't seen in a while, meditate a bit in the prettiness that is the Libingan ng Mga Bayani and buy books. PRIVILEGE OF THE SWORD, I CAN FINALLY HAS IT? And it's a decent read too. *nearly done!*

Friday went along swimmingly~ [livejournal.com profile] archangel_dream even dropped in to visit me! Weekend was absolutely lovely~ classes went well, and I got to see [livejournal.com profile] yukitsu, [livejournal.com profile] lonelybusiness and [livejournal.com profile] ficcentricity. ♥ Today was nice and easy too, since I didn't have to give my En11 classes a formal lecture and the story I picked out for my Lit13 class was easy to discuss (It's Faulker's A Rose for Emily -- go figure).

On other news, I GOTS MAH PAY. *is politely ignoring the fact that tax took out a sizeable amount from it* And to make my day even more awesome, some of my D18 fics managed to make it to this ongoing D18 fic recommendations page on LJ. Weather is nice and chilly too. Good vibes all around!

I think I will spend tomorrow trying to catch up on the Ginormous Stack of Papers that I still need to check for my kids students, archiving more threads from the KHR Plurk Crew, writing fanfic (because it's been way too long and school + teacherly work + RPing on the Plurk circles is making my Muse itchy) and generally chillaxing. I should prolly fuss over my LJ layouts and LJ icons, but that takes a lot of time.

Plurk has permanently ruined my ability to make long posts, hasn't it? SAY IT AIN'T SO!!!! DDDDD:
MY LAYOUT, IT IS FIXED. *A*

...Now I need somebody to help code up a new profile table for me. Something that'll give me more space. And stuff. o_O

Oh, and, uh, real entry over here.

This heat, it is unreasonable. Whatever happened to those cold weeks we had sometime back? *crai* Of all the times where it could have been fucking hot, it had to happen today -- I've just spent the last 4-5 hours scuttling around, fixing my closet. I have discovered that:

A.) I had miniskirts. I don't know why I bought them, because I never ended up using them, and I never will.
B.) I have a pink pair of pants. They're actually quite nice.

Before that, though, I sorta started my day off on a bad food because the breakfast for the day was ravaged fish (Paolo and the parents got to them first) and syrup-less pancakes -- they forgot to buy some at the local supermarket. Since I have to take my meds 30-60 minutes before my meal nowadays (doctor's orders), you can imagine how murderous I felt after staggering downstairs in a hunger-induced haze to no food, no food, and no food. >__> Cranky Pammeth is cranky.

Cook eventually fixed up a decent meal for me, so I zipped off to ADMU after some idle tiem on the PC. Everything's chaotic in the English department since a lot of the important folks are still on vacation and there's only one department secretary to do legwork enough to keep a whole battalion of department secretaries busy. I ran into Anne, one of the lit majors I graduated with last March... she apparently applied as a graduate assistant at the department, but she decided to try out as a a professor instead because the grad assistant work she was doing was reportedly killing her brain. I'm not surprised by her decision: in fact, I'm wondering why she didn't just try out as a professor in the first place. She's one of the most brilliant people from her batch. @_@

Anyway, I originally went on campus today to do some grad studies errands and follow up some teaching things... I've managed to the next set of required papers and my registration form from the grad studies office, but I won't be able to get advised until tomorrow. I don't really mind, though, since I've already pretty much resigned myself to the fact that I'll be on and off campus this whole week for teaching seminars, class registration and other important things. I'm actually going to end up spending my birthday in a required teaching workshop, but if you really think about it, that could be the best gift I'll receive this year, given the way things are running. Lulz.

Tomorrow's errands include:

  • Moving into my cubicle. I'm cubicle mates with [livejournal.com profile] pyrosinferno. 8D
  • Confirming my class schedule. The one they gave me is still tentative.
  • Helping Ate Josie with department errands. As I said, she's one woman doing work enough for an army.
  • Meeting up with Anne and Carlo to cram discuss teacher stuff. Anne is going to have her demo class soon, and I need advice on lesson plans.
  • Getting advised for my grad studies classes. *crosses fingers* If I can't get advised tomorrow, I'm going to have a hard time later this week. I texted Sir Pulan, but he told me to get advised by someone else, and that basically means harassing Ate Josie again. ~_~ I swear, after all of this shit has passed, I am so buying her something.
  • Hooking up with [livejournal.com profile] laurgasm for a bit, since she'll be in the area. I dunno whether I'll be able to do this, but it would really be nice if I could.
  • Going out with Mom to buy a few more articles of Teacherly Clothing. Now that I've fixed my closet, I have a better idea of exactly what I still need to get.

Now that my clothes have been properly segregated (i.e. Stuff I Will Never or Rarely Use + Stuff I Use When I Go Out But Can't Wear When I'm Teaching in the extra closet in Philip's room, Teacherly Stuff + Everything Else in my closets), I'm taking a quick break to type up this entry, poke some people online and generally catch my breath before I put in that last set of clothes and start figuring out what I'll bring for my cubicle.

Not-so-randomly: Paolo is getting antsy again. The grad studies office hasn't given him a straight answer about the status of his application, and registration is coming up. There's also the fact that he's going through 35612365861365816563016473265th Childhood and he wants a PSP. Or a Wii. Or something. He can't make up his mind, I think, he just wants something. He actually wants to sell his PS2 -- he bugged me about it when I was doing errands, and I nearly bit his head off for his horrible timing. Srsly. What was the point of all that dramarama last year if he was just going to get tired and sell the damned thing anyway?

Yeah, okay, I get it: he's depressed and he needs a girlfriend help, but frankly speaking? Maybe things aren't working out for him because he's being such an emo kid/ass/brat.

[/end rant]

BAAAW. I STILL HAVEN'T WATCHED A LOT OF THE STUFF IN MY BACKLOG, BUT WHAT'S WORSE IS I STILL HAVEN'T FIXED MY LAYOUT HERE.

EDIT: The thing idiot I mentioned in this entry never replied. Hurhur.
Konking out early last night really, REALLY helped, but I STILL woke up before 7:00 AM. >_> I managed to go back to sleep and kinda recover that lost hour though. Pio and Mai Mai had slept over although I didn't even get to greet them since I went to bed early, so breakfast was pretty lively. It was too bad that my parents had this thing in Batangas (Barrion Foundation scholars, yo~) -- at the rate we were all going, we could've sat there, talking all the way until lunch.

Mai was asked to give this talk to the incoming Management Engineering freshmen in Ateneo, so she camped out in my room, working on her Powerpoint on Aidan!Laptop while I poked around and flailed with [livejournal.com profile] yukitsu before she and I both had to leave FOR PHILIPPINES KOUSHIEN!. I hitched a ride with Mai in order to do English Department things. It turns out that since the department's underloaded with regard to professors, I'm going to be teaching nine units rather than six: I might also handle a Lit 13 class.

This excites me and scares me. More classes means more stuff to check, more people to deal with and overall, more pressure. There's also the fact that I'll be studying at the same time, and-- well, let's just say that when I was writing out my schedule from tomorrow all the way to June 10 (the start of classes), I really, REALLY needed to smoke. @_@

...It was nice, though, watching Ate Josie fixing up the cubicles and seeing my name taped up in one of them. I hope I'll do well.

Anyway, the rest of the day went swimmingly~ met up with [livejournal.com profile] lonelybusiness, [livejournal.com profile] ficcentricity and, of course, [livejournal.com profile] yukitsu -- [livejournal.com profile] synatri came around later, AND I'M ACTUALLY EDITING THIS POST TO ADD THIS RIGHT NOW BECAUSE I FORGOT HER IN THE ORIGINAL POST. *is shot* Yukeh went to get the charger for her DS replaced, but beyond that we were just flailing around and bitching/chatting/spazzing/fangirling the whole day. I think I totally amused them with my whole "WHAT GAME DO I GET" dilemma, but I walked out of it with WhorePuppy!Zack an original of Crisis Core at the end. I've updated the wishlist accordingly. YUKEH, SRSLY, I LOVE YOU LONG TIME.

On that note, expect to see a Paranoia Meme here soon.

Peter was with the driver when he came to pick me up -- I later dropped him off at Eastwood and headed home (THE TRAFFIC, IT WAS MIRACULOUSLY NONEXISTENT). Emails yielded this badly punctuated review that was trying very hard to flame one of my fics but failing miserably; apparently, FF.net has a thing with sending me stupid people to slap bad reviews these days. I emailed the idiot back and told it (yes, I say "it") that I'm happy it reviewed, but really, I can't take it seriously since its grammar and punctuation fail on so many different levels. I'm expecting this loser to reply with another flame, but I don't intend to read it.

Parents aren't coming home, so I'm prolly going to take a puff or two in my room. Btw, [livejournal.com profile] daniela_lynx, thank you SO MUCH for linking me to that post with all those add-ons! I've gone ballistic installing them. ♥

Tomorrow will probably be spent studying (MUST. MAKE. LESSON PLANS.) and fixing that new layout I mentioned a post or two back.
The Fic Wish List Meme

Rules: List 1-10 pairings/prompts that you have been dying to read. Maybe it's a really rare pairing or something you've requested on any of the past smut memes which haven't been fulfilled. When you see this posted on your friends' journals, you may do one of the following:

- Write it.
- Link to one that's already been written, whether by you or someone else.
- Nothing, but karma will get you. >_>

There are no length or rating limits, and prompts may be duplicated (PLEASE). Be specific in your prompts particularly in reference to preferred smut content, seme/uke order, and any other requirements that may hinder your appreciation of the fic.

Seeing [livejournal.com profile] kye_kestrel and [livejournal.com profile] yukitsu TO THE EXTREME! Aaaaand still fixing iconsssssss~~~~~~~~
izkariote: (productivity.)
( May. 27th, 2008 10:19 pm)
...LJ icons will be the end of me, I swear. I nearly slept at 1 AM because I was deleting/fixing/shuffling the damned things in my collection, but I had to force myself up before 8 AM because I had work. SNWS conversations with [livejournal.com profile] kye_kestrel and the usual office banter between my Dad, my brother and my relatives sustained me though. Pio told us all about The Toilet Saga, which will likely be the first of many everyday trials he'll face now that he's married. XD

So, let's see -- I set up a blog for the company personnel at my Dad's request, then I generally lolled about, poking people on y!m and watching my downloads fill out (the direct cable connection has miraculously started working again). I tried to get some writing done, but most of my time was spent plotting weird stuff and talking gay with Lynffles. We keep each other alive on weekdays, yo. ♥

Relatives are over for dinner, but Mom gave me the license to retreat upstairs already. I'm going to see if I can go out tomorrow and meet up with [livejournal.com profile] yukitsu and [livejournal.com profile] kye_kestrel though... it's a bit short notice, but Lynffles won't be available this weekend. She also needs to get away from her weird relatives.

Part of being the office means being able to mooch off the bandwidth, so here's moar music for you guys. XD

[Poll #1190933]

I was inspired to do this by [livejournal.com profile] lonelybusiness and [livejournal.com profile] kye_kestrel, and by the fact that I actually haven't uploaded music for a long time. If you guys have other suggestions that don't fit into the ticky-boxes up there, or if you have specific fanmix requests, just comment with them. :o

Didn't bother writing up an entry yesterday because I was busy fixing Alistair v2.0 up... I am happy to report that he is fully functional, and all my programs are up and running. Downloads are up to speed too. Subjected the PC to my usual Test of Time by leaving him on the whole night, and when I woke up to check his tempterature, the case was still as cool as ice. :D

After Alistair!PC was properly souped up, I broke my brain over fixed Aidan!Laptop up -- he's been in dire need of repartitioning, since Windows XP eats up a crapload of space and 10 GB just isn't enough for the main drive anymore. That kept me up pretty late the other night (had to transfer files, and there was some confusion with the partitioning program), BUT OTHERWISE, I AM TRIUMPHANT. Now I don't need to drag Maes!ExternalHD over to the office in order to do downloads there~

With both of those out of the way, I'll have to turn my attentions to Kaien!PC (formerly Alistair v1.0) and fix him up, as I had promised my Dad. That's not a problem at all, though: Ubuntu is SO much easier to fix than Windows, and my Dad doesn't want any specific program on the thing just yet.

Woke up late in the morning (TECHNOLOGY, THIS IS WHAT YOU DO TO ME), so I pretty much had to eat breakfast and hop right into the car in order to go to Medical City with my Mom -- the endocrinologist we were referred to is finally back in the country, so it's high time that we checked with her regarding The Thyroid Drama.

ExpandHospital talk and randomness relevant to that. )

ExpandThe rest of the day. )

I've got an early morning appointment at the skin clinic to do the usual upper lip hair-zapping ritual -- Mom won't be with me this time, though, since she and Dad are heading over to Batangas tomorrow. I'll be going to the office afterward in order to make up for the day I missed.

[livejournal.com profile] yukitsu, THANK YOU FOR RENEWING MY PAID ACCOUNT, BUT NOW I HAVE FIVE EXTRA ICON SLOTS AND I DON'T REALLY KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH THEM YET. D8 Or maybe I do, but that entails fixing my folders. Again.

This post was supposed to have my shot at the Text-based Paranoia Meme attached to it, but I think I've written enough for the night. Somebody remind me to continue uploading my backlogged drabbles to [livejournal.com profile] stitchedophelia and to my FF.net account tomorrow. @_@
