...LJ icons will be the end of me, I swear. I nearly slept at 1 AM because I was deleting/fixing/shuffling the damned things in my collection, but I had to force myself up before 8 AM because I had work. SNWS conversations with [livejournal.com profile] kye_kestrel and the usual office banter between my Dad, my brother and my relatives sustained me though. Pio told us all about The Toilet Saga, which will likely be the first of many everyday trials he'll face now that he's married. XD

So, let's see -- I set up a blog for the company personnel at my Dad's request, then I generally lolled about, poking people on y!m and watching my downloads fill out (the direct cable connection has miraculously started working again). I tried to get some writing done, but most of my time was spent plotting weird stuff and talking gay with Lynffles. We keep each other alive on weekdays, yo. ♥

Relatives are over for dinner, but Mom gave me the license to retreat upstairs already. I'm going to see if I can go out tomorrow and meet up with [livejournal.com profile] yukitsu and [livejournal.com profile] kye_kestrel though... it's a bit short notice, but Lynffles won't be available this weekend. She also needs to get away from her weird relatives.

Part of being the office means being able to mooch off the bandwidth, so here's moar music for you guys. XD

Special Mix: Sadface Songs - The Polite Version (SET TWO)
Angsty and depressing downer pieces to lose yourself in. Link to the first set of the Rude Version of this mix will follow as soon as I put it up.

I Am Kloot - Avenue of Hope
along the avenue of hope / the footsteps falter, fingers grope / and the days, stretch out beneath the sun

This is the sort of song that you would hear over the radio while you're sitting in a coffee shop during a rainy day with nothing but your notebook, your favorite drink and maybe some cigarettes to keep you company. There are no people around -- only shadows and sillhouettes.

Julia Robb - Won't Tell
Couldn't find reliable lyrics, sorry. @_@

They say repetition is bliss, and something rhythmic and natural for us human beings, but when you employ repetition in a song like this, it's just haunting and heart-wrenching. Julia Robb's vocals are subtle and perfect, and this song brings out its power by balancing them out with the right instruments.

Low - Sleep at the Bottom
You want to sleep at the bottom / You want to see them shout tonight

Depression's the sort of feeling that no words can really describe well, but I think the title of this song and the way it sounds comes pretty damned close to what it must be.

Murder by Death - Raw Deal
There is a shred of guilt in every one of us / And a pain we felt in watching you all suffer / Now the time has come to make amends to everyone

If you're not sold on the name of the band, you ought to be... Murder by Death is one of the best indie bands I've ever heard -- they combine the raw and the folk, and overall, whenever I listen to them, I seriously wonder why I'm stuck in a country that's stuck in some sort of musical purgatory when it comes to foreign artists.

n.Lannon - Turn Time Around
You say you're gonna turn time around / Never question your bitter chemical friends / You can finally lose yourself and take your medicine

So I've had death songs and suicide songs. Here's the mandatory one about addiction and being stuck in a place where you really don't want to be but you can't help yourself.

Orillia Opry - Shadow Shadow
Sorry, I can't find any reliable lyrics online. @_@

This one is a great favorite of mine -- if you've ever heard the European band Boa (the dudes who sang "Duvet" for Serial Experiments Lain), or the singer they got for Silent Hill's vocal tracks, this one is a must have.

PJ Harvey - When Under Ether
when under ether / the mind comes alive / but conscious of nothing / but the will to survive

This one's specifically about abortion, but I think its sound and the lyrics can strike familiar chords in all of us.

Monsieur Kamayatsu - Apotheosis ~Finale~

This one's from Sentou Yousei Yukikaze, a totally gay plane anime based off a book. If my memory serves me correctly, it's played just before one of the two main characters flies on his last mission. He quite literally disappears into the sky.

Sufjan Stevens - God'll Ne'er Let you Down
Sorry, I can't find any reliable lyrics online. @_@

I have nothing to say about this one except for the fact that Sufjan Stevens is one of those artists whose damned good at making you BAW by the sheer power of his lyrics alone, even if his guitar work sounds almost cheerful. This one is more obvious about its sad theme than his other works though.

The Chemical Brothers - No Path to Follow

If you thought that the Chemical Brothers are only good for making hella awesome dance beats, think again: this song very accurately captures despair in a little over a minute.

The Cinematic Orchestra - Dawn

Place this song in a movie. It'll probably play during one of those uber dramatic sunrise scenes after a horrific battle, or after some character has lost something -- or someone -- beyond recovery.

Turin Brakes - Rain City
Opened my eyes had a dream last night that both my arms were broken, / Evening time, / Help me now or hold me down, i feel the world is tumbling,

Ahaha. I think the lyrics speak for itself on this one. It's got an almost... hopeful sound to it though.

Omg, it's crappy for you too? >_> The only time I ever get any decent uploading done is when I'm in the office.

YES. ;__; My connection keeps timing out when I try to download the latest oofuri chapters. (What the hell, it's barely 10 mb ajsaljsalkj! So angry and frustrated, meh.)

I HATE IT WHEN IT TIMES OUT LIKE THAT. A-and then it'll just suddenly shoot up for thirty glorious seconds (a minute or more if I'm lucky) AND THEN IT DIES AGAIN. ;A;
