GAH.

SENDSPACE INFECTED ALISTAIR!PC WITH A GODDAMNED VIRUS.

KILL IT! KILL IT WITH FIRE!

*rage*

EDIT [some thirty minutes later]: Alistair!PC has graduated from the shittiness of a bad bout with Windows and the Interwebs to the rock-solid security of Ubuntu. I was going to do it eventually, but fate's forced my hand. At least the laptop is more than okay, and that means that all my files are fine too. Generally. ...Sort of.

Hello, God. Yes, now I know you're there. @_@

No writing or much of anything else for a while. I need to walk my way through this new system.

...Well, not exactly. I could have just shut the PC down and waited until after Holy Week for a techie to come over and reinstall Windows XP (we don't have an installer with us right now). Thing is, I'm not very happy with the thought of this occurring again -- hence, I'm installing Ubuntu and trying it out now.

Since I like Ubuntu, I'm going to dual OS. X3

Mm. That makes sense, since Windows is a virus magnet... *tug* Candice is asking how Ubuntu is superior to Windows. :3

It's a Linux-based OS, so it's solid when it comes to security. It's also written up differently, so anything nasty that's designed for Windows fails when it tries to penetrate Ubuntu. You can also customize it with hard coding, and software support is totally free because of the Synaptic Pack Manager.

There are also little aesthetic matters that I like Ubuntu for, such as the workspace. I'll gab off to you about it in chat sometime~

Ah. Like how viruses written for Windows don't get into Macs. I've seen pictures of the workspace in Wikipedia. :3 Looks pretty.
