Dear friends,
I’m asking your help to spread the word. Tulungan po ninyo akong ikalat ito. Beyond this, we should also demand action. I disabled a plugin so you can copy the photos of relief goods rotting in DSWD warehouses. You can link this post to your blogs, facebook, websites etc. You can also email the photos.
Philippine News (US based Philippine newspaper) will use this as its front page story this week. Every Filipino has the right to know where the tons of donations from the UN and other counties go. Kahit po nakakahiya sa mga nag-donate. Kung sa ganitong paraan, matutulungan natin ang mga nasalanta, then by all means, let’s do it.
For those who have the time, please try to volunteer sa DSWD warehouses. Getting in was not easy. A friend had to put in a word for us. Let’s see kung madali nang makapasok sa DSWD warehouse ang mga volunteers.

This short interview was done over the phone. Philippine News wanted to hear her side pero ayaw niyang makipag-usap sa press. After four tries, pinasabi na lang niya ang maikling sagot na ito sa secretary niya - “Walang volunteers”.
I don’t want to accuse her of corruption but at the very least she is showing signs of being totally incompetent. We are in a state of calamity where every second counts. May namamatay araw-araw dahil sa sakit.
In my opinion, these deaths could have been prevented if Secretary Cabral had tried a little harder to do her job.

sighhh it is like- what's the term? A social contract. WE WILL PUT UP WITH YOU DOING WEIRD SHIT as long as we can live in relative peace, having being fucked over first by a typhoon and secondly by you is not considered 'relative peace'.
Will this news- not the thing about searching for volunteers, but the cover up- be reported in any major newspapers? If you've got any non-state run ones, that sort of thing.

Except from what I remember about the Philippines- correct me if I'm wrong, I haven't studied this for about a yearish- despite being modelled on the American system of democracy most of the political parties are made up of Ilustrados who all have vaguely the same views on things... Nngh. I hope something changes, it'll really be good for everyone if that's the case. MAYBE SOMETHING WILL, can always hold out on that.
Also awesome on the newspaper thing. Even if that gets... IDK shutdown or whatever, at least the word'll be out.

But yeah, the ones in charge now have BEEN in charge for generations back now, and they're only really interested in maintaining the status quo. We're... a weird political model. Not capitalist, not feudalist, a bit of everything and nothing-ish. orz

Most of SEA is like that! No one knows quite what the hell model it follows, it just looks like... something that somehow works... with the exception of Burma, which is just a glorious mess. So much for their 'Third Way' of neither capitalism nor communism.
Even if the government dismisses it, it seriously hurts their rep. Though with the new call for volunteers- I guess people will take a 'I don't really care what they say, as long as the goods get out there soon' point of view.
