Before anything else:

THANK YOU SO MUCH, LUVI!

She got me the loveliest, most shamelessly fangirlish gift ever for my birthday, and I totally didn't expect anything. SERIOUSLY, I LOVE YOU!!!111oneoneone

Much love also to [livejournal.com profile] le_esperance and [livejournal.com profile] mlina, who both popped me before on the premise of getting me a gift!

Much love as well to [livejournal.com profile] khursten and [livejournal.com profile] botling for the paid accounts and icons, and to [livejournal.com profile] desumethis for this lovely fic!

Now for update things I've accumulated since the last time I went online~

Written on June 3, 2009 @ 10:05 PM, in my room.

On one end, I hate to admit it, but...

I think the forced exile from the internet is doing me good, overall. Sure, it's hard to keep in touch with the folks online, and I DO miss all the crazy that takes place in the [livejournal.com profile] theskytides chatroom, but not being wired the whole day has me turning my attention towards a whole lot of other things.

First, there are my files. I've been meaning to read through all of the manga and comic downloads that I have accumulated over the course of nearly two years for quite some time, much less fix all of the images I've either saved myself or mooched off from other people, and having not much of anything to do BUT fix them has seen me through finishing the whole lot. I'm also steadily making my way through all those comics, which is always good for inspiration in the long run.

Second, there's the fact that I get to watch a whole lot more of the stuff I've downloaded or received from friends based on their recommendations. Still got a hefty amount of things to go through, but taking things one step at a time is the best way to go, right?

Last but not the least, there's the fact that I wander around the house more and inevitably loaf around with my family more, whether it's marathoning with my little brother, talking with my mom and my grandmother, or sitting outside with my dad, watching Discovery Channel. We all linger longer at the dinner table as well, since talking's got to be better than staring at the screen, right?

Unfortunately, I'm less motivated to write. I think I can safely attribute that more to the rennovations and lack of a connection on my main PC more than anything else though. It's hard to buckle down to write when you're either annoyed at your internet connection, bustling around on errands at home or stuck in a very public place, after all.

Parents will be getting me a new laptop, and it'll prolly be the same model or a similar one to what [livejournal.com profile] ficcentricity recently purchased for my birthday - the deal is that we'll split the cost between us, so it's half from my folks and half from my own funds.

Aidan has served me well. I sure hope he'll do equally good for my Dad!

I have been contemplating upon making a bitchy post or two, mostly about fandom, partially about writing, but I realize that it will probably be a waste of my time. Fandom is fandom, after all. One can only hope that the offending parties will grow up, or at least come to realize that seriously: they're not all that special.

Just one thing, though, for the record.

Pro-tip:

The world does not actually care what you do or do not do, whether you live or you die.

The sooner you realize how inconsequential you really are, the sooner you'll be able to improve for the better. :)

And now, today's updates!

I went to sleep last night thinking "Y'know, it'd be really cool if my internet connection went back up on my birthday but LOL AS IF THAT WOULD HAPPEN!"

And it did. @_@

THANK YOU, EVERYONE EVERYWHERE, FOR ALL YOUR LOVELY GREETINGS AND GIFTS! I gots mah paid RP accounts, and icons, and fiiiiic, and love! *A*

Some members of the family were over earlier for a nice, quiet lunch~ some others will be coming in later for dinner! Dad and I will also be getting my laptop, with luck!

...Obviously, I lack coherence. Must be the happy. I feel like a kid again!

Reminds me of one of the best pieces of advice Sir SExie gave on writing nonfic. Along the lines of, "Yes, we know you've got problems. EVERYONE has problems. We. Don't. CARE!" XD

Oh Exie.

Somebody should start collecting quotable quotes from him. 8D

Re: fandom

Yes and yes and yes. :D Really, it's not that hard to ignore them. I wish there's a way to block community posts from certain members, but right now I'm content with having my eyes slide over their entries. I'd occasionally express sentiments of disgust, but as a rule I just treat them like they're not there. It really does make checking LJ easier and faster.

If I may be frank:

It is easy for you to ignore them, but my beef with them is professional in as much as it is personal. Their idea of craft and writing and the writing process is upsetting for someone who's been trained to be critical about these things.

On that note, it's also doubly upsetting on my part, because I take my craft seriously. A lazy attitude towards writing coupled with too much ambition or expectations is just asking for punishment, in my opinion.

Hence, my reaction.

You know bb, nothing's much new in the chatroom other than KB being topped. So you know... >3>)

Other than that, well, you eventually got 'Aidan', didn't ya? About time that bastard got a makeover.

Huggles, ukeppi. Great to hear you had an awesomecakes day. <3

Lmao, the usual, huh.

AND INORITE, IT'S BEEN FOUR YEARS.

And I diiiid --

Which was balanced out by lol, stress. BUT HEY THAT'S LIFE.

Not terribly late at all, actually~

Thanks, dear. It's been a while!
