Earlier this month, my family did the usual Advent wreath thing - my parents pretty much follow the book when it comes to all the rituals, and that includes family member sharing timez. The reflection on the fourth week was about recalling how the year had gone and what we had to be grateful for. I've only got one analogy to describe everything that happened, and I'm pretty sure it sucks, but...
2008 was a year of opening, closing, and turning my orbit into a solar system.
I watched my brother get married, I graduated from college after the C-Word's intervention back in '07, I had the craziest summer of my life, I applied for grad school and passed, I was accepted as a lecturer at my home university, I learned that it's possible to stand on my own two feet and provide for myself, I discovered Plurk, I joined my first LJ-based RPGs, I met tons of new and wonderful people, I got closer to the people that I already had, I wrote the most, porned the most, bled the most, cried the most, bitched the most, and loved the most than I ever had in my past 23 years.
Dunno what I've been doing right, and I think I enter 2009 realizing that all the doors have been opened - something tells me that whatever I've done or have not done will be realized within the next two hours and the 365 days hereafter. It's some kind of seriously fucking scary, but I don't think I would want it any other way.
Also: I'm wearing a dress. I hardly ever get to do that.
Happy New Year, everyone.
