The Book Fair-Mall of Asia excursion was a great way to tie up a nice, overall EXTREMELY PRODUCTIVE week: I zipped over after class, and met up with [livejournal.com profile] kye_kestrel (SO GLAD I MANAGED TO CATCH and molest YOU IN TIME, BOSS! T_T), [livejournal.com profile] lonelybusiness, [livejournal.com profile] ficcentricity, [livejournal.com profile] yukitsu and [livejournal.com profile] khursten -- [livejournal.com profile] dreamlessness was able to drop in for a quick bit too! All of them had to content with my iHUNGAR mode until I got some food into my stomach though. So sorry about that, guys. ;_;

Shenanigans happened after the Boss left and after we dropped Bhex off at ze jeepney~ we wandered around the booths a bit (although Khursten and Yukeh had already done their round), oggled some books, fought through crowds, suppressed violent urges towards small children for BLOCKINGTHEWAY and certain customers for falling under the category of Generally Stupid (or maybe that was just Yukeh and I? orz). Ended up spending a hefty amount at Fully Booked afterward too, because they were on sale. Clever, FB wa.

ANYWAY, THE SPOILS OF WAR ARE AS FOLLOWS:
Watchmen (Allan Moore) --> been meaning to get this one for a while anyway; now was as good a time as any, since I'm teaching it to my Lit 13 kids + it was 20% off, okey!
The Western Canon (Harold Bloom) --> I R LIT MAJOR, HEAR ME RAWR. And you gotta love a critic like him. He's the angry old man in the academic mansion, kicking all the young trendy uns off his yard! ♥
On Literature (Umberto Eco) --> ...Because this book has been staring at me in the face in bookstores across the country since I entered college. >_>
The End of the Affair (Graham Greene) --> Was always curious about this one, but a recent conversation with one of my colleagues synched it. Will read it ASAP!
Almost Transparent Blue (Ryu Murakami) --> A REALLY FUCKING LUCKY BUY. I nearly missed spotting this one on the shelf!
Perfume (Patrick Suskind) --> Been meaning to snag this one too, ever since several of my friends and teachers have pimped it in the past!

Been spending a lot on books and porn! lately, now that I think about it... I mean, I bought copies for nearly all of my required readings in Development of Fiction a week or so back, and there are also the doujinshi that I purchased off one of the lovely fans at [livejournal.com profile] hitman_reborn. I suppose it's all fine for the moment. For the moment. -_-

It's a little too hot to be productive, but all the reading I've been doing for class has put me in a ficcing mood. Will set aside today for relaxing, I think, since I'm ahead in my academic shenanigans for the moment.

I SHALL. I ♥ed "In the Miso Soup" to death, and I heard that "Almost Transparent Blue" is supposed to be even trippier! *is excited!*

I just read In the Miso Soup klasdjklsdahhkj terrified. So glad I read it in the morning instead of at night, like Yukeh wanted me to. :/

LOL. It's definitely not a book you should read at night. XD

Khursten wants to borrow it nao. "Almost Transparent Blue" broke her brain.

Oho, potentially awesome books GET! I've been meaning to look for other books by Sueskind, Perfume is really, really extraordinary. ♥

I LOVED End of the Affair! It's movie adaptation ain't bad either, although the book is much gloomier.

My colleague kept spazzing to me about it, and I've been meaning to read the book for a while. o_o

Will spazz to you about it once I actually DO read it!
