Went with the father to the P&B Dionisio shooting range somewhere in the South Triangle area. ...Now I can understand why they say that shooting can relieve stress. @_@ I tried out a .45 and a Beretta, and between the two of them I like the first one better -- heavier gun, better balance, better penetration, no fuss over slacks and triggers.

Dad went trigger happy earlier. Something tells me this'll become my next serious hobby. It's cheaper to go to the range than to eat dinner out, for one.

Now, some clarifications:

Lights Out is a free-for-all event, for fangirls, by fangirls. We as the moderators aim to provide a common venue for any and all enthusiasts from all walks of life to enjoy SLASH, something we all love very, very deeply.

Why am I reiterating this? Because an insider was kind enough to show me a link to an LJ of a cosplayer who wanted an opinion on her costume for the Bound Pairs Cosplay at Lights Out 4 -- she also wanted to know whether she should go to the event in the first place. Someone on her friends list then had the nerve to reply that she shouldn't because (and this is the gist of it, not an exact quotation because you really don't need a wanker's exact quotation on anything), "Lights Out's a waste of your cash! Their moderators exclude other people from going in! I was flat-out rejected for the first convention! They also rejected several Good Pinoy yaoi artists from going! They are, liek, SO ELITIST!"

My initial reaction? What the fuck. And not in the annoyed-angry-kill-kill-kill sort of way. More in the Oh my god. With a single comment, you've just systematically proven us right. Why are we right? Let me count the ways.

1.) Lady, for someone who considers writing her career, you sure don't know how to do your research. Lights Out was created BY fans FOR fans: we don't intend to exclude anyone. The screening was because something like slash is a VERY sensitive topic in this country (read: Third World + Catholic + Apparently Unfriendly to Homosexuals, Bisexuals and Transitioned Individuals in General), and we wanted to test the waters. To prove that point, please note that the three other conventions that followed it (including LO4) are open to EVERYONE.

By the way: the first Yaoi Convention in the United States had a screening process too. Are you willing to call them elitist bitches?

2.) I would like you to verify your comment about 'good Pinoy yaoi artists' being excluded. I don't know about you, but we've got people like Red Threads who are totally interested in going to the convention on May 26. If they're not good, I don't know who is.

3.) People who were previously 'rejected' were more than welcome to attend the succeeding conventions with no strings attached. And why would we attach anything? We're not elitist bitches unlike somebody who likes to feel st00pid and bitter because her feathers were ruffled about being one of the teh awesome l33t fangirls who didn't get into the first one. In fact, some of the previous applicants DID go to the second one. We saw them in the third one too, and they've even expressed interest in going to this one.

Dictionary.com's Word of the Day was circumspect. That is:

circumspect \SUR-kuhm-spekt\, adjective:
Marked by attention to all circumstances and probable consequences; cautious; prudent.

Apparently. That is something this wanker didn't have.

I gotta hand it to this woman though. Because of her, I feel vindicated. Is this what you call 'karma'?

Uhm, someone's got major issues. Probably thinks that we eat n00bs for breakfast. If we were, we would've been overweight by now.

But seriously, she sounds way too ignorant and pretending to know everything just by ONE experience. Uhuh. I'm at awe.

D00d. You should see the way she replied to the girl's post. PRETENTION ALERT.

Can't post the link up here though. I can give it to you through y!m, if you're interested.

Oh oh, was she declined because of all that pretentiousness? :D

Actually, you don't need to. I already saw the post. When you mentioned about a "cosplayer," I already had the sneaking suspicion that it was exactly that post that I saw linked to from a community that I'm a member of ([livejournal.com profile] youka_nitta).

well... okay not locked. ^^;;

But yeah we didn't bring her in LO for many reasons. 2 actually. Of which Rael and Rotch would detail to you once we meet for OS~~! :3

Honey, sorry for going all PC on you (please don't hate me), but we gays prefer not to be labeled as the Third Sex. :) Not only is it homophobic, but it is also very anti-girl. Labeling us the third sex implies a hierarchy--who's the first sex then, straight male fratboys?

Having said that, that person you're talking about is an A-grade cunt.

No, it's fine! Thank you so much for correcting me -- I'll edit the post right away.

The last thing I want to be is politically incorrect when it comes to this sort of thing. o_o

Oh, thanks so much for editing it. :) I'm really sorry for the bother.

I hope I cna show up for this year's LO, but that will all depend on my ever mercurial schedule. :(
