Woke up early because the maid came in to wake Peter up (we've been sharing my brother's old room because air conditioning wins at life), but I ended up rolling around in bed for a little bit before actually getting off my ass. I just came home from doing the following:

  • Swinging by ADMU in the hopes of getting that last recommendation letter and finally submitting my application form. ...That didn't really happen. ._. SIR DM, COME BACK QUICK.
  • Dropping by UP and picking up those long-overdue copies of the anthology that I got published in. They told me to come back later in the week -- apparently, UP offices are closed on Mondays right now.
  • Buying a new CD-R marker, new sticky flag things BECAUSE I LIKE STICKY FLAG THINGS IN MY BOOKS! and two staplers (one small one for my pencil case, and a big one for my desk).
  • Buying three new cartridges of black ink for the printer, because I really should finish printing the old version of Endtimes so that I can mail it myself and copyright the whole thing.
  • Buying two whole reams of letter-sized bond paper, because I really should finish printing the old version of Endtimes so that I can mail it myself and copyright the whole thing.

I sure hope Mom and Dad are willing to reinburse a bit of the cash I spent today. Everything is so expensive these days. @_@

Here's the meme [livejournal.com profile] ficcentricity wanted me to do. [livejournal.com profile] lonelybusiness posted hers already, so I figure that I ought to do the same. *coughs*

How about a brief introduction?
I'm Kae. I can has porn? Crack would be nice too. :o

Fabulous! And what got you into fanfiction to begin with?
Uh... I actually don't know. I think it was from reading all of my older brothers' manuals for Warhammer, Battletech and Dungeons & Dragons and wondering if I could spin up characters and stories out of the info dumps. Then there was the anime I used to watch as a kid too.

I see. So what kind of fanfiction do you like to write?
I can't say that I have any real preferences in as much as I do limitations. Like, I really, REALLY can't do crack. ._. I leave my Night-type [livejournal.com profile] yukitsu or my partner-in-bitching [livejournal.com profile] khursten to do that for me.

Of course, I always enjoy writing drabbles, especially the introspective kind. And porn is always, always fun.

Do you find writing easy? Hard? What are the aspects of writing you struggle most with?
Easy and hard are relative -- it really depends on what I'm trying to write at the moment. Generally speaking, though, I don't have an increasingly difficult time writing, but I can't say that it all just pours out either.

...Uh. I just went around in circles there. u_u ANYWAY, I'm not sure what I struggle most with. That differs per piece too.

Write a few sentences or so of your favorite pairing or character.
B-BUT THERE ARE SO MANY. D8

...Okey, okey. I'll do KHR, because it's the first thing that comes to mind right now. >_>

Yamamoto Takeshi, Ten Years Later

People never believed it when they saw him: Yamamoto Takeshi, Rain Guardian of the Vongola Family, second only to Hibari Kyouya and Reborn on the body count. He was the tall, friendly one with a smile too wide for his age group and a laugh that echoed a little too loudly down the mansion's hallways. His hair was kind of goofy and he was a bit of a baseball freak. To the casual mafia man, there wasn't a threatening bone in his body.

It was only afterward, in the gun smoke and fire of the battlefield or in the dingy alleyways of Italy, where they could catch, if the were lucky, a brief glimpse of that ever-smiling Yamamoto cutting a man in half with his sword the way their moms took knifes to butter, that they realized what being the Rain Guardian was all about.

Are there any fanfiction clichés or trends you're sick of or just can't stand?
I second [livejournal.com profile] lonelybusiness with the Weepy Ukes. And the Pretentious Prose. I also hate, hate, HATE Author's Notes with a passion, especially if they're nonsensical and full of "BLAHBLAHBLAHBLAHMEMEMEMEMEMEMEI'MSOAWESOMEW00TPEOPLEREADMETHATMAKESMECOOL" crap.

...Actually, there are a lot of things that turn me off when it comes to writing, and it's not just with fanfiction. I think it's a lit critic thing.

Are you guilty of any fanfiction clichés you hate? Or any other ones?
Duhr. I used to write really bad crossovers and put in OCs a lot. BUT I AM PROUD TO SAY THAT I NEVER, NEVER WROTE IN MARY SUES/GARY STUS. I think. o_o

What was the first fandom you wrote for, and do you still like/participate in it?
Saber Rider. With mechanical tentacle porn. Before I even knew it was porn.

...I wish I could find those old notebooks to prove that statement. B|

Ahur. I WOULD participate in it if I could just remember what Saber Rider was like.

Name your OTPs or most frequently written pairings/characters and explain what it is about them that you love to write.
BLARGH SO MANY I CAN'T ANSWER THIS QUESTION EFFECTIVELY. >___>

As a general whole, though, I like writing "twisted" pairs, or pairs with a dollop load of UST. I just enjoy that angle a lot, I think.

What would you call your writing style?
A Bibliophile's Brainfarts. No, srsly, I can't think of any other way to put it. *koff* HALP?

Do you read other people’s fanfic? If so, what do you find yourself reading the most?
I do, occasionally. And I usually read, well, short stuff and porn, because I really don't have the attention span for anything else. Ahahaha. Dun kill me.

Name one thing you'd LOVE to write, but have been too afraid or shy to do.
Any fandom of mine in some historical setting. Like Elizabethan England. Or World War II.

Do you have trouble taking criticism? Or worse yet, do you have the dreaded bloated ego?
I'll be the first to admit that I'm narcissistic, but I don't have much of a problem with criticism as long as it makes sense and it's backed up by solid evidence. My grammar's pretty shabby, so criticism on that level is heaven sent for me. When it comes to other aspects, though, we'll have to talk.

I do have a thing against being critiqued by newbies and pretentious bitches with 3 grams of brain or less though.

When you write, is there anything that helps? Music? Quiet room?
Cigarettes, good music (tailored, of course, to the piece I'm doing), something sweet to eat or drink and solitude.

What inspires you?
PORN Pretty much anything. For serious. @_@

Lastly, how would you sum up your fanfiction experiences and yourself as a writer?
Fanfiction was, is and always will be a great training ground for me -- it's where I get to try out things I normally wouldn't do in my original fiction, and experiment with style, tone, voice and other aspects before I do the real run for them in my own stuff.

Writer's a sticky word, IMHO, but if writing means recording some image, idea, character and/or emotion on paper and displaying it not just for yourself but for other people to love/hate, then I guess I am one.

I'M WEIRD OKEY.

Once I finish burning a few more DVDs, I might go back to marathoning stuff. I'm amazed at the rate in which I'm downloading anime this season. o_o; It's either that or I get to work on those pieces for [livejournal.com profile] yukitsu. For realz.
