Before I'm out of town for the weekend--

Quick update on the interview I mentioned last post: talk with the Chair went well. She says I've got an excellent record, and they're hoping to sign me on for another year with the department. The thing is, a lot of the old faculty members are returning, so there's a big chance that I won't be teaching as many classes as I was last year.

This is actually perfectly cool with me, because I'll just increase my load for my MA classes. I'll be earning less money, but studying IS a whole lot easier than teaching, much less studying AND teaching at the same time.

We talked a bit more about other things too, like how it's a good thing I'm sticking with the dept and srsly doing the scholar thing. She DID give me a fair warning about maximizing my semester (apparently she heard that I finished my sem rather early last sem, and with our New Nazi Administration that's frowned upon), but beyond that, all was well.

Changed the layout over at [livejournal.com profile] stitchedophelia due to that semi-creepy stalker person I mentioned before (although not in detail; you're going to have to ask me for that yourselves~), and I've finally got fics to pimp out. \o/

Basch is extremely difficult to play, if only because of the speech pattern. ;; I do hope that I'll get used to it soon, the way I did with Raidou.

Speaking of RP-related things: World of Darkness folks, I have a proposal to make: why don't we move our game online? It'll be easier for us to do sessions, I think. Lemme know how you feel about that.

o_o What's so bad about finishing a sem early?

[identity profile] izkariote.livejournal.com 2009-04-27 03:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I dunno, I think they feel that the students aren't getting their money's worth if the sem isn't maximized, or that the teacher may not be teaching them everything that they need to know according to the objectives of the course.

A lot of people don't really agree with the logic, but rules are rules, I suppose.

You could--maybe spread the syllabus out or something. Or spend a few sessions holding ice-breakers. orz.

Ou, that is a good suggestion!

I was also thinking that I'll hold consultations in the classroom instead, whenever I can. That way, it'll look like we're holding class to outsiders. /sneaky tactics, get
