I think it's safe to say that my "vacation" officially started yesterday; skipped out on my niece's birthday because I was feeling reclusive, and although I really should've dropped in, I don't want to say that I regret it in the least. From the looks of it, I seriously need some Me Time.

Sunday was pretty uneventful: today was the exact opposite. Slept late due to plotting shenanigans with khursten (D18 Kink is Serious Kink, okay!), and ended up getting jostled awake by my mom at 9:45 AM -- exactly 15 minutes past the time that we were supposed to leave for the hospital. I pretty much stumbled out of bed and "bwuh?"-ed my way through the waiting and through the appointment.

Thyroid Dramu Update: latest scans show I'm clear, but my doctor is, of course, still adamant on me getting the operation. She's not pushy, though, which is cool; she even suggested several sites that I can browse regarding alternative methods of treatment, just in case I really don't want to do the whole Cut Myself Open And Sing While They Take My Thyroid Gland Out thing. She mentioned the fact that the papillary could easily spread to my lungs, which, of course, is important to me given the fact that I smoke. Still ambivalent towards quitting the habit though -- I enjoy it too much, and as I've told many of my friends, smoking has done more than just given me a form of stress relief.

Went off to ADMU after that because I really need my last paycheck for the semester and my Mom kinda wanted to see my cubicle (which she did, along with meeting some of my colleagues). I'll have to go back on Wednesday to see if the Department secretaries are finally available.

Managed to snag some R&R time at home before heading off to Makati to meet with lonelybusiness, ficcentricity, yukitsu, 77ws, kye_kestrel and khursten. AWESOME CHOCOLATE COMA CAKE IS AWESOME. *staaaaaaares at factorielle* 8D

Lemme do some quick and brutal updates on why I've been so out of it and what's in store for me in the next semester.

• I spent pretty much all of last week checking the crapload of student works and exams that I've accumulated since the end of August -- that ought to explain why I've only been visible on Plurk and y!m rather than LJ. I'm still reeling from all that text, so you'll have to excuse me if I fail at anything that has to do with writing and archiving for a bit. +_+
  
• I am not kidding when I say that I won't have a semestral break -- I might even be digging my own grave by forcing myself to take this week off. I have lesson plans to make and preparations to do regarding the graduate studies units that I need to take up this coming semester. I've also got duties to fulfill for the committees that I'm in over at the faculty (i.e. editing scholarly journals, fixing the formatting on some literary criticism papers, canvassing for potential text books). orz Teaching is serious business, yo.
  
• The papers I was referring to in this post are for classes that I'm still waiting for word about, so I really don't want to post them until I'm sure that they didn't suck. Something tells me that I'm going to end up posting them anyway, given the fact that some of you guys are breathing down my neck about reading them. *crai* I might contact some scholars and professors abroad about reviewing them, depending on the results.
  

Now, about fandom life. I have but one thing to say: I HAVEN'T BEEN UNPRODUCTIVE, JUST PRODUCTIVE IN THE WRONG WAYS! My logs over at reborn_biz can testify to that, along with the fact that I have been making headway with my animu and icon backlog. Natsume Yuujinchou made me wibble lots, and Bounen no Xam'dou totally fucking OWNS me. If you haven't seen those series yet, I DEMAND THAT YOU WATCH THEM NOW.

Also, I've said it once and I'll say it again: I HATE YOU ALL FOR MAKING ME ITCH TO FANFIC. I NEED MY TIME FOR OTHER USELESS THINGS, OKAY. But expect ficcing soon. I WILL WRITE WITH MY DYING WILL.

The things I've learned today:


1.) My graduate studies classes have become Fanfiction Writing Time, for serious. I've got about 60% of my attention devoted to my professor, and the other 40% devoted to writing fanfics while the class discussion goes on. I'm pretty sure my profs know that I'm doing something completely unrelated to what's going on, but since I actively recite even WHILE I'm writing, I guess they don't mind? x_X My classmate caught me, though. She now insists that I am the queen of multitasking!

2.) lonelybusiness, ficcentricity, yukitsu and kye_kestrel, WE NEED MORE HANG OUT DAYS LIKE THIS, OKEY. And synatri, I miss you. ._.

3.) "STOP IT, GAYZ, IT'S STILL FUNNY IN MY HEAD!" is going to remain my favorite quote of all time for a very long time. ...Wait, did that make sense.

4.) Rushing to meet fanfiction deadlines = NOT COOL.

In spite of all the time I waste spend on it, Plurk seems to do a lot of good for me -- been getting plunnies left and right. o_o I've started up several snippets for shorts/oneshots, and a couple of feasible longfic projects brewing. My NaNoWrimo this year is going to be a long fanfic for the series, for one.

yukitsu was also kind enough to point out that without Plurk, I would probably go completely batshit given the demands and stress that comes with teaching 9 units worth of freshman classes in Ateneo and THEN attending 6 units worth of graduate studies classes almost every Saturday. Smoking just doesn't cut it, apparently.

So what lesson have I learned? I HAVE LEARNED THAT PORN = THERAPEUTIC.

Since I didn't get to post about Thursday due to my need to show off this blathering idiot (who, by the way, never replied), I'll explain it here: that was the death anniversary of Lolo Peralejo, and even though I was supposed to have attended this Read or Die meeting thing with yukitsu and lonelybusiness, I guess he really wanted me to come around and join the family because the meeting was canceled and stuff. Anyway, it was good because I managed to talk with relatives whom I haven't seen in a while, meditate a bit in the prettiness that is the Libingan ng Mga Bayani and buy books. PRIVILEGE OF THE SWORD, I CAN FINALLY HAS IT? And it's a decent read too. *nearly done!*

Friday went along swimmingly~ archangel_dream even dropped in to visit me! Weekend was absolutely lovely~ classes went well, and I got to see yukitsu, lonelybusiness and ficcentricity. ♥ Today was nice and easy too, since I didn't have to give my En11 classes a formal lecture and the story I picked out for my Lit13 class was easy to discuss (It's Faulker's A Rose for Emily -- go figure).

On other news, I GOTS MAH PAY. *is politely ignoring the fact that tax took out a sizeable amount from it* And to make my day even more awesome, some of my D18 fics managed to make it to this ongoing D18 fic recommendations page on LJ. Weather is nice and chilly too. Good vibes all around!

I think I will spend tomorrow trying to catch up on the Ginormous Stack of Papers that I still need to check for my kids students, archiving more threads from the KHR Plurk Crew, writing fanfic (because it's been way too long and school + teacherly work + RPing on the Plurk circles is making my Muse itchy) and generally chillaxing. I should prolly fuss over my LJ layouts and LJ icons, but that takes a lot of time.

Plurk has permanently ruined my ability to make long posts, hasn't it? SAY IT AIN'T SO!!!! DDDDD:

Yesterday was a bit of an emotional rollercoaster~ my Dad and the doctor had the predicted showdown in the latter's office first thing in the morning, and Dad walked out of the encounter doing his usual thing: ranting and venting and basically doing the usual, condescending "Me against the world because my methods work all the effing time!" act. I kinda didn't want to hear it, so I kinda snapped. He lost his temper. It wasn't pretty. We were supposed to eat lunch out together, but Mom ended up going with my Dad to Tiendesitas and I was left to go home alone and try and compose myself in the car. That didn't work out as planned.

Skipped lunch as soon as I got back and slept most of the afternoon away because I srsly needed it -- woke up a little past four feeling groggy as heck. Talked it out a bit with kye_kestrel (that really, really helped), and then I started on RahXephon, whose second episode can be summarized in a single sentence: "OH MAH GEE FREAKOUT TIEM MY MUM BLEEDS BLUE!". Peter came around to bug me, so we ended up watching all our backlogged episodes of Dr. Who. I'm kinda thankful for the delay now, though, as apparently the series won't be showing a new episode until next week or so.

Things appeared to have blown over in the evening, when Dad and Mom finally came home. The apology this morning sealed it further. All is well.

If the marathoning and all wasn't enough to get my spirits back up, saythatyougetme certainly was. She's a great artist and her doujinshi circle is doing a project, and she signed me up to write the script for a D18 KHR doujin. *A* I've spent pretty much the whole day working on it so far -- progress is a little slow but otherwise good. I've really improved my script-writing skills for comic books.

According to Kimmy, we'll be selling our doujin during Lights Out 2008 -- it will also be sold online. Please support us when it comes out!

I didn't go to work yesterday because I needed a weekend, since I probably won't get one went out with ryvaeus and ultra_arvin as some sort of impromptu celebration for Arvin, who refuses to ceiebrate his own birthday. We met up at JP's house (the one in Alexandra, not his condo unit~), and zipped over to Metrowalk for lunch at Misato. We also went to a, uh, most interesting shop (ask me here and I'll answer you in private, for security purposes 8D) before Arvin had to leave for his comics writing workshop, WHICH I SO DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT. DO YOU HEAR ME, ELBERT OR? >___> *sends stalker waves*

So. Yeah. Since Arvin wanted to watch Speed Racer later in the evening but he had that thingie to go to first, JP and I went over to Shangri-La to oggle the games in Data Blitz (PERSONA 3 FES IS FUCKING CHEAP + Damn it, all the fangirls/fanboys beat me to an original of Crisis Core~~~~~ + Original copies of FFT and Jeanne D'arc are so tempting! *flail!*) before going back to his place just to hang out. He helped me format my memory stick for Kalika!PSP, since it somehow corrupted my copy of Crisis Core. T_T I'll have to load it up later and hope it works. If the FMVs still freeze up, then I definitely need to get an original soon.

7 PM eventually came around, so we rushed over to Shang for the movie -- we missed the first few minutes, but it really wasn't much. THE COLORS, SO BOGGLING. It gets even worse with the races. That aside, though, the movie was actually okay. I never really watched Speed Racer as a kid, so I can't give a proper critique or whatever, but I found it fine?

Movie ended past nine, so we went down to Via Mare for dinner (WHICH JP ALSO PAID FOR! ILU, COUSIN!) and talked about more randomness before JP's driver picked us up. I got to watch Arvin and JP try out various gay things with Solid Snake and Ganondorf in Brawl (THERE IS EVIDENCE ON JP'S WII BUT I CAN'T POST IT HERE UNTIL WE FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET FILES FROM THERE), and JP also tossed the controller to me a few times so that I could try it out.

Button mashing on Brawl is so cool. Like, you don't technically know what you're doing, but it's cool. o_o

Slept Very Late (read: 11:47 AND STFU yukitsu THAT'S VERY LATE FOR ME NOW ;A;), and woke up a little over an hour ago. My Muse is clawing at me to write moar KHR porn shorts for 8059, D18, 8018 and Shamal59. She always comes alive when I'm using my brain for something lit-related. *pif*

Um. Yeah. So now that this entry's done, I should srsly, srsly get to work. ._.

I'm posting this because my layout displays the calendar thingie for entries and I'm weirded out by the fact that I have consistently missed out on posting on Tuesdays this month.

Um. Well. Some of you guys already know that I've had these two longfic ideas that have been bugging me ever since I finished the game, but school work and general laziness kept me from getting around to working on them. With school out and Holy Week on the horizon, though, I figured that I'd spend the next few days working exclusively on all my longfic projects. I know I ought to be looking towards my originals, but I figure that the better approach would be to write and finish most of, if not all of, the stuff for my smaller ones, and then just drabble whenever I get tired. That way, I get more done in the long run rather than stay fixated on a single project without actually doing anything about it.

*breathes* So yeah. Basically, I think I've met my goal for today. Once I finish doing some stuff for the Epic P3 Sequel Idea, I will see what I can do for my TYL KHR one. Been pestering khursten, yukitsu and kye_kestrel endlessly for ideas... I sure hope I didn't end up annoying any of them for nothing. x_X

WHICH NOW REMINDS ME!

FLIST PEOPLE WHO ARE INTO BOTH KHR AND OOFURI: If, let's say, Yamamoto was on a pro baseball team, who among the Oofuri cast do you think he should be teamed up with? I have my own ideas at the moment, but it wouldn't hurt to get your opinions on it. Thoughts, people?

Writing stuff aside, I didn't do much today other than watch khursten spazz about Eureka 7 in my chat window while alternately talking KHR/randomness with kye_kestrel and sindapa. Oh, and khursten did something Unquestionably Evil by showing me KHR merchandise, which now leaves me torn between buying a Gokudera mug, a Hibari mug, a stuffed Hibird, or that whole damned set and more. A glorious vacation is glorious! o/

I've been getting hungry easier these days. @_@ I wonder if it's because I changed my diet and lessened my overall food intake.

CRAP FINAL FANTASY 7 CRISIS CORE IS COMING OUT IN ENGLISH SOON AND I HAVEN'T EVEN FINISHED FINAL FANTASY TACTICS YET. BUT WAIT I CAN'T GAME YET. MUST. WRITE. MOAR!!!!

• Amano Akira has proven to me that it is possible to write a series where the fandom functions like one big orgy. EVERY PAIR IS AN OTP. FOR SERIOUS.

• Chrome? I can't believe I'm saying this, but I actually like her. o_o Or well. I'm okay with her. But yeah. She's like... yeah.
  
• Tsuna spazzing is cute, but Tsuna being a BAMF is even better.
  
• I used to not really like or pay attention to the rest of the characters outside of the Vognola core, but I guess that was because I didn't read carefully enough in the beginning. Now they've all grown on me and shit.
  
• I want a Hibird now. u_u
  

Honestly, I'm really, REALLY impressed with how KHR is turning out. I found the series great when I first started, got a bit squicked by the fandom, stopped reading for a while, and then ended up marching right back in after an overload of hot smutty doujin and beautiful-looking LJ icons. I have little love for Shounen Jump series these days, but I wish all the best for KHR.

On a writerly note, I think (re-)reading KHR has really helped solidify the images I Have of my own characters. For one, it kinda-sorta sealed the Hikaru = Hibari equation for me. It was shaky when I first saw it, but now I am sealed and sold. o_o
