Hi, guys. Lots of things have happened. In sum:

Still don't have a job. I am okay with this.

Gaming a lot, writing a lot, RPing like a boss, doing well in my studies, dealing with stupid classmates.

Switched ISPs to something faster. This is about the only reason why I'm finally doing personal LJ things - my old connection just couldn't load all the stuff going on on my flist, and I couldn't download doujin/anime anyway, so there wasn't a point. Coming back now that I have the means.

Feeling better about myself and the direction I'm going in, overall. Things will only get better from here on, with luck.

How have all of you been? Apologies: I suck at keeping up with you folks these days. You're welcome to scold me through the usual means. As a sort of peace offering, have some fics:

GINTAMA. // A lover as faithful as guilt.
GINTAMA. // Something's Burning: Fate could create you and I.
GINTAMA. // Something's Burning: Open up and let me inside.
GINTAMA. // Something's Burning: Errands and affairs.
GINTAMA. // Something's Burning: Deny, deny, deny.
GINTAMA. // Something's Burning: Regarder la lumiere
GINTAMA. // Something's Burning: Nautical dawn.
GINTAMA. // Something's Burning: I will be the water for your thirst.
GINTAMA. // Something's Burning: Epilogue.

Fandom bias, thy name is Gintama.
I actually started writing this one from my cousin’s flat – it’s the place I’ve been staying in for nearly a week now. As those of you on plurk already know, there’s no net access from home yet. Planned on making this entry when I was actually online, but whenever I get online, I end up doing a whole bunch of other things instead. XD

So! Singapore. Where do I begin?

Watch out for them teal deers. )

Summary: it’s been a pretty crazy trip so far. I have no doubt that it’ll just get crazier from here.

I told [livejournal.com profile] yukitsu, [livejournal.com profile] khursten, [livejournal.com profile] kye_kestrel and a few others this before, but back before I left home, I knew that somehow this trip would be good for me. So far, I’m right. There is a special joy that comes with being on your own, with no one to really rely on but yourself – sure, you have to do all of your stuff on your own and plan all of this stuff on your own and worry about your cash and your laundry and your room and your commuting route, but god, it’s glorious.

It’s the little things that are best about independence, I realize. Standing around at the bus station while you wait for your ride home, listening to Nine Inch Nails on your mobile and absorbing the noise and heat of the city, wandering outside to the balcony of the place you’re staying in to light up and enjoy the breeze… that sort of stuff. Take note: I’m the 25-year-old girl who’s still living with her parents and therefore subject to all sorts of loving but ultimately ridiculous rules. I don’t love my family any less, but I am starting to see that I really need to get out there already. And Singapore is the first step.

I do miss my cat my cat, though. Like, really, really, really miss her. There are lots of friendly strays that are beautiful looking and plump and stuff, but they just make me wish that I could’ve brought Gouto with me. And I kind of really wish my girl friends from home were down here with me too. ._.

Anyway, I previously mentioned that having no internet at home is really good for me. This applies in more than just one direction. For one, so far, I’ve managed to read half of the huge-ass pile of unread comics and doujinshi that have just been piling up on my hard drive for the past year and a half. For another, I’ve managed to catch up on a lot of anime and tv shows, and watch some movies that have also been idling around in my collection. Something tells me that if I had brought my PS3 along, I would’ve been able to play through some of the games that I’ve had to set aside too – but it’s a good thing that I didn’t, else I’d be distracted. Forever.

Oh, and I’ve gotten a lot of writing done. Like, a lot of writing. Let me show you. :3

† DURARARA! Izaya, Kida, rendezvous. // The possibility of zero.
† COUNT CAIN/GODCHILD. Riff, Cain, watching. // And yes, the way you look at me.
† FINAL FANTASY 7. Aerith, ghosts. // A new iconography of resurrection.
† GINTAMA. Gintoki, Katsura, how things have changed. // Faith is a series of calculations.
† SOUL CAMPAIGN (RP). Vergil, Yuna and a bottle of booze. // Women do have an affinity for evil
† SOUL CAMPAIGN (RP). Genesis, Vergil, black mail. // Only enemies speak the truth
† SOUL CAMPAIGN (RP). Phoenix, Edgeworth, Soul Talk. // Sic probo
† SOUL CAMPAIGN (RP). Date, Dante, getting crazy. // Scuse me while I kiss this guy.
† SOUL CAMPAIGN (RP). Dojima, Roy, taking the next step. // When a heart must go where it belongs
† SOUL CAMPAIGN (RP). Mukuro, Adah, experimentation. // Given the scalpel, they dissect a kiss.
† SOUL CAMPAIGN (RP). Shizuo, Nanako, babysitting. // The quiet moments while the city’s still dark.
† SOUL CAMPAIGN (RP). Roy, Vergil, discipline. // Nous sommes fucked.
† SOUL CAMPAIGN (RP). Vergil, Kurapika, treating ladies right. // Confusion that is so hard to be avoided.
† SOUL CAMPAIGN (RP). Pedosun, Voyeurmoon and creeper!Adah. // Things in heavenly bodies.
† SOUL CAMPAIGN (RP). Roy, Celty, silence. // You can either hold on or let go.
† SOUL CAMPAIGN (RP). Rhode, Chrome, tension is sex. // I (don’t) hate you.
† SOUL CAMPAIGN (RP). Mukuro, Rhode, ten years later. // She got a buttermilk smile and a thorny touch.

Week Three, here I come.
So. I'm going to Singapore.

I don't really feel prepared, and I'm a little nervous, but more excited than anything else. Household's felt stifling these days - I don't know if it's always been like that and I just didn't notice recently because I was running through the wringer at school or if it's because there's been a lot going on for my family as of late. Either way, I think toughing it out on my own for two months will be good for me.

Been spending most of my time making sweet love to my PS3, as he has been FOREVER ALONE for quite some time now. I was supposed to get some writing and file fixing and marathoning done, but Dragon Age was just too shiny for me. ;; As it is, though, the game was totally worth it. I'm kind of glad I didn't have to spend a cent for it too.

Am resisting the urge (and failing) to write Dragon Age fic. Alistair, he is a puppy. And Zevran is my sexy bitch.

Yesterday was actually some kind of crazy... in the rush of stuff that I had to two for the past two weeks, I forgot to mention here that two of my closest friends had elected to get married on the same day. That pretty much left me scrambling all over the place to prepare, and then zipping from one place to the next on the day itself.

Fun times, though, if not a tad awkward, on occasion. As to why, I don't really want to say here. But I saw old faces, got to smoke in good company, ate nice food and generally enjoyed myself, even if I officially hate wearing long gowns. XD

Now before I go back to my downloads and my tagging and my gaming, an open meme for all you RPers out there looking to do some kinky stuff:

[open RP Post] Marry/Fuck/Hatesex Rough It Out/Tie Me Up/7 Minutes in Heaven @ sexhibitionists!

Aaaaand fic pimps.

► PERSONA 3. Minato & Minako // In a silent language
► PERSONA 4. Kanji & Naoto // The need to hold still
► SENGOKU BASARA. Koujurou // Too much love will kill you in the end
► GINTAMA. Takasugi // Will you get your wish?
► SOUL CAMPAIGN. Dojima & Roy // Memoirs of an amnesiac
► SOUL CAMPAIGN. Seimei & Sasuke // Your sweet symmetry, all shattered

IN B4 I CHECK EVERYTHING because if I checked everything first I'll likely crash before doing this properly, which'll mean waking up and checking everything first and delaying this entry further. o_o

A-anyway uh so like I mentioned a few entries back and then some, I flew off to Singapore on the 27th with Khursten ([livejournal.com profile] khursten), Yukeh ([livejournal.com profile] yukitsu) and Lyn ([livejournal.com profile] kye_kestrel). This was our first trip out as a group (and Yukeh's first trip abroad ever), and it was the most glorious adventure we've had together yet.

SORT OF DISCLAIMER: I'm extremely lazy unorganized, and I'm not too fond of doing a blow-by-blow account of things, so this entry will likely be the "abridged" version of our whole trip with lots of personal teal deer on my end. Shove off to the entries my buddies will make if you want something to, er, supplement this. XD

They will also have pictures, which means that their entries will totally top mine by default.

So now I'm back in my house, showered, properly fed, practically dead on my feet but feeling the best I've had in a while. I've missed home and I've missed my family, although I don't particularly miss my country with Singapore still on the brain.

I'll be frank and say that Singapore, while lovely, was probably a place that I'd like to visit again, but not live in ever. It's... got this weird feel to it. This neither-here-nor-there, lack of "cultural" ground ambiance that sort of gets to you if you're sensitive to that sort of things. I mean, it's safe and secure and really fucking pretty, but it somehow feels empty for me.

Of course, that's all an observation on my part. Whether it's fair or not, I don't know.

Nevertheless, I made some good memories in Singapore, and it will always go down in my personal history as the first place I traveled to in the company of friends. I am also likely going to go back there very often in the future if the economy is kind to me, because I've got some real friends there that I definitely wouldn't mind seeing time and time again, from here until whenever.

/takes a deep breath

SO NOW THAT THAT IS DONE it's likely back to the regular routine. Still got a few days of sem break left to enjoy, although faculty duties are bound to kick in for me, especially with the new subjects I'll be teaching. There is also NaNoWriMo to consider, and that open RP post that I'm supposed to do for everybody.

May also need some time to figure out how to get rid of the Singlish twang. I-it's even corrupted the narrative voice in my head, as I rather rudely discovered when I attempted to read some of my books during the trip.

And I still want chicken rice. Like, lots of it.

Sooooo, flist, what did I miss? :D

Hurrrr pretty much prepared for Singapore now, I think.

Now it's just a matter of boarding that plane.

+ Katekyo Hitman Reborn! Rose, oh pure contradiction (Hibari & Kyoko, for [livejournal.com profile] starkissed)
+ Katekyo Hitman Reborn! Private star systems (Hibari & Kyoko, for [livejournal.com profile] starkissed)
+ Katekyo Hitman Reborn! The heart of your gesture (Hibari & Kyoko, for [livejournal.com profile] starkissed)
+ Gintama. As if tired from their pilgrimage (Mitsuba)
+ Gintama. Snow falling on corpses (Gintoki & Takasugi, for [livejournal.com profile] nique)
+ Gintama. The way the blue sky suited her (Hijikata & Mitsuba)
+ Gintama. And within every dewdrop a world of struggle (Kihetai)
+ Magna Carta: Tears of Blood. Voicing out the words he cannot say (Calintz, for [livejournal.com profile] kitsune_jade)
+ Towards the Terra. They slip away, across the universe (Soldier Blue & Physis, for [livejournal.com profile] kitsune_jade)

Might be slower with the writing this coming month, with NaNoWriMo and all. Return on Investment will be back on the block.
This week has been absolutely lovely so far, with all these meets with friends~ it's just too bad that I wasn't able to go out with [livejournal.com profile] mlina. That would have made it even lovelier. :<

Also: Red Cliff was absolute win. HORSE PUNCHING, GET.

It's been a nice and quiet day at home for me, just like yesterday. Beautician came over to do my nails and some waxing (yeah, I'm preparing for Singapore, bite me), and I got to roll around and poke people that I don't often get to poke on IM ([livejournal.com profile] signifies, I'm looking at you). I also got to enable a lot of people to do a lot of shiny things, so that is always cool! Am also still on my jazz trip, since I'm working my way through the huge set of songs that [livejournal.com profile] khursten gave me. Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald are pure ♥, always and ever.

...Speaking of music. Let me tell you, flist, that the section of my external HD that I devote to my music finally ran out of space yesterday. Cue me madly scrambling around to distribute files to the laptop and less congested drives on my main PC.

This must be a sign. Guess I'm bringing home a new external HD and possibly a DS from my trip next week.

Since I literally tore myself away from playing more Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, have a fic dump:

+ Tempting me into the garden; KHR!, 8018, for [livejournal.com profile] questofdreams
+ I'll tap into your strength; Suikoden Tierkreis, Jale & Sieg, for [livejournal.com profile] mienaihoshi
+ The aftertaste is gonna break your heart; [livejournal.com profile] theskytides, Roy & Rou, for [livejournal.com profile] tasogareika
+ Another grey day in the deep blue world; Persona 3, Shinji & Aki, for [livejournal.com profile] tasogareika
+ Above the thunder; Air Gear, Rika, for [livejournal.com profile] annotate
+ Bring me lasting light; Gintama, Gintoki, for [livejournal.com profile] khursten
+ In between the moon and you; Bleach meets Devil Summoner, Byakuya & Raidou + Ichigo, for [livejournal.com profile] kitsune_jade
+ Hell's bells
Splintering the night; FF7 meets FFT, Ramza & Cloud + Sephiroth, for [livejournal.com profile] kitsune_jade

And my belated birthday set for [livejournal.com profile] starkissed:

+ Necromancy; [livejournal.com profile] soul_campaign, Mukuro & Sakura
+ A playfully dangerous stranger; XXXHOLiC, Doumeki & Watanuki
+ How fire took water to wife; XXXHOLiC, Clow & Yuuko
+ Our time is running out; X, Sorata & Arashi
+ Hide-and-seek among the tea flowers; Yuuto & Karen
+ Rose, oh pure contradiction; KHR!, Hibari & Kyoko + Kusakabe
+ Private star systems; KHR!, Hibari & Kyoko
+ The heart of your gesture; Hibari & Kyoko

Pimped some of these on comms already, so you've prolly seen a few of them. Or you've already seen all of them, if you're following my fic journal. o_o

See, I should be talking about the relatively kick-ass weekend I had, but the connection at home has been dead since Saturday and I'm still drowning under the backlog. orzzzzz

Good news is that the phone guys have apparently come around to fix the line. I'm not home to oversee their work, though, so I'm admittedly a little worried. If it doesn't work out, I'll be camping out at the office for a very long time.

Apologies to all the people that I unceremoniously dumped. I'VE CAUGHT UP NOW THOUGH, SO I'M OPEN FOR ABUSE AGAIN.

To be honest, though, the lack of a connection was a bit of a blessing. Managed to marathon a lot of stuff, and I've pretty much finished off all the subbed episodes of Gintama.

There are no words for the awesome.

Oh, I also managed to put in some stuff for [livejournal.com profile] khrminibang.

Here, have a preview. )
